Your fourth visit with us; Wow! Thank you! We sincerely appreciate your continued business and loyalty. Please accept our apologies for the Wi-Fi service. It has been upgraded within the past couple months with new routers and a better service plan. We are continuing our efforts to improve this amenity. We apologize it wasn’t working well during your stay. We hope if you get the chance you will check out our sister properties throughout Maine and New Hampshire, too.
The hotel was nice and clean. I left my prescription eye glasses in the room. I called the hotel to ask for housekeeping to check the room. I didn't receive a call back. I called again the next day and again was told the lead house keeper was given the message and they would return my call. Well its been 4 days and I have heard nothing. I very disappointed as the prescription glasses are very expensive and I can't see!
Hi JodiDe, We are so sorry to hear about the trouble you've gone through. We are usually excellent with recovering Lost and Found items, and get them sent out very quickly. Would you please give us a call back and ask for a manager so we can take care of this for you? Our Housekeeping Manager is not sure they received your information correctly. Thanks!
My wife and I decided to take a short vacation in Portland Maine. Since we have never have been to Portland, we took a chance and stayed at the Fireside Inn & Suites. We very much enjoyed our stay there. We booked for 3 nights. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly young lady who was working the front desk. She was very helpful in giving us suggestions on places to eat along with a street guide to Portland. She also supplied us with complimentary "Whoopie Pies", Maine's official treat. Along with the Whoopie Pie, we also received a discount coupon that could be used in the restaurant or to upgrade the continental breakfast.
Our room was not fancy, but very clean and had all that we needed. The bed was very comfortable. Walking around the inn I found a small indoor pool, a large outdoor pool that was surrounded by very well kept grounds. Off to the side was an area set aside for smoking where I enjoyed a cigar without bothering other guests. There is also a bar and restaurant on the premises.
We took advantage or the free continental breakfast that included pancakes, a selection of cold cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, coffee, milk and fruit juices. Andre', the host of the breakfast area was outstanding. He went out of his way to be personable friendly and helpful.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced, clean and friendly place to stay while in Portland, i would recommend you give this place a try. It's about a 5 mile very easy drive to commercial St where you will find many things to do while you are there.,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review in regards to your recent stay. We appreciate your positive feedback. We are a large hotel of 196 rooms, and are pleased to offer such great amenities which you discovered such as free continental breakfast, an outdoor pool and an indoor pool, free Wi-Fi, and those delicious whoopie pies at check in! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and our staff. Andre will be happy to know he made such an impression! Please come back real soon!
The Fireside Inn and Suites was a clean well-maintained hotel. (The room we were in, and others we saw, had laminate hardwood floors that were clean and in very good condition...no worn or dirty rugs which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and courteous, acknowledged you and asked if you needed any help, etc. Nice workout area, indoor and outdoor pools with an outdoor lounge area that, though a bit old, was comfortable and well maintained. Washer and drier available and a small sitting area nearby to wait and relax. It is not a new motel, but it is clean and well maintained. Room size is good and adequate; bathroom a tad small, but adequate. Morning complimentary breakfast was more than adequate and you could purchase more choices, at a discount, if you wished. Overall a nice hotel to stay in relatively close to Portland's activities at a good price. Portland is a nice city to visit and enjoy. We will stay here again.
Thank you for taking the time to post such a positive review! We are so glad you had a great stay; it is our goal with each guest. We did want to clarify one piece of misinformation - only a few of our rooms have the laminate hardwood flooring. We are the continuous process of updating and renovating rooms as time allows, so 95% of our rooms are carpeted. However if you or anyone should request a NON carpeted room, we will certainly do our best to accommodate that. We hope to give you the same experience next time when your travel plans bring you to the Portland area.
The hotel was everything you need for a short stay in Portland. The rooms were not very luxurious, but they were everything you needed. They had a decent selection of continental breakfast, a small gym, and a pool. The service was good, and the workers are very happy and pleasant to be around!
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us about your recent stay! We appreciate your comments about our amenities and friendly staff. We were happy to have you stay with us while in Portland. Please come back soon!
My wife and I stayed at the Fireside Inn and Suites for one night during a recent trip and found it acceptable but nothing more. The staff was friendly and the check-in and check-out process was efficient. The hotel wasn't in excellent condition, but it also wasn't in poor condition. The room was ok--fine, but nothing spectacular. The breakfast was sub par in my opinion. We were excited because the hotel has a restaurant inside, and when we heard there was a breakfast buffet, we assumed it would include food similar to what a restaurant might actually offer on the menu. We were sadly mistaken, however, and instead found a very basic continental breakfast like many budget hotels offer. We thought the meal might be saved by the pancake "machine" that automatically spits out pancakes in 1-2 minutes, but we found them extremely rubbery and they had an odd flavor. The highlight of our stay was most certainly the free whoopie pies we received when checking in. Overall, there was nothing terrible about our experience, but it wasn't especially enjoyable either. For a short stay of 1 or 2 nights, if you are only looking for an adequate place to sleep for the night, this hotel is probably ok. If we go to Portland again, we will probably consider other options... though, depending on the price of the other options, we may or may not opt to stay at the Fireside Inn and Suites again.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us about your recent stay! We appreciate your comments so we know what we are doing well and what can be improved on. We do offer a complimentary continental breakfast for all our guests with mostly cold items like fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, etc. The restaurant is open for breakfast, too, and has plenty of hot items to pick from. It sounds like that would be a better option for you next time. As you have discovered, many other hotels in the Portland area offer the same amount, or fewer, amenities, but with a higher price tag. We hope the value you experienced with your price will bring you back to us on your next trip.
