“We’ll be back!”

We really liked this place. It’s location in Portland is perfect—easy walking to many places, including Old Port. It sits up on a hill and overlooks the harbor—beautiful view if your room faces the water. We ended up in an end room, which is basically a double-sized room. It was wonderful—couch, table and chairs, frig. The people at the desk were very helpful and friendly. We only spent one night there, but when we go back to Portland, we will definitely stay there again.

We were in Portland, ME before we realized how crowded the house we were staying in was really going to be. We made a truly last minute reservation and had a fantastic experience. Reasonable prices for the area, easy walk to everything, very clean rooms, and extremely nice staff. Our view was of a parking lot but I found it to be a scenic parking lot (attached) so I personally won't complain. For me this is the right place to stay in downtown Portland, Maine.

The only down side was getting two double beds instead of two queen beds which is what I'm used to in Oregon.

We stayed in Portland on July 4th as part of our New England road trip. We were looking for a place where we could get downtown on foot, wouldn't charge us for parking, and had a decent rate. This place was a winner!

We were greeted with a goodie bag when we arrived, but we think that was because we were new to the priority club. We got some free drinks at the bar, a lottery ticket, some snacks, etc. The staff at the front desk was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. They helped us find a way to the fireworks (on the other end of town), as the airport shuttle driver was taking guests much closer to that action for the evening.
The restaurant and bar staff were also great to us as well.

We stayed on the 9th floor in a room with a king bed. The view of the bay was good--its tough not to see the unattractive parts of an industrial city. Still, it was better than a brick wall or a parking lot! Let's be clear--Portland (from street level) was clean, pretty funky, and entertaining.

The room was updated and clean. There were either granite or faux granite countertops in the bathroom, an updated shower and showerhead, a Keurig machine and four K-cups, and a hair dryer in the bathroom. The bedroom had a large LG LCD flat-panel TV with a good range of channels, a very comfortable bed, a desk and chair, lounge and ottoman, and a fairly quiet air conditioning system. The room had a much more pleasant smell than most hotel rooms, but the furniture was dusty.

We briefly swam in the pool. It's in a windowless room, so the air was pretty thick in there. They did provide towels and the water was cool (it said it was 82, but we don't think it really was). The fitness room looked nice.

After staying in the Philly Holiday Inn by the sports complex, we were really impressed with how updated and fresh this location was. You are only minutes on foot from shopping and restaurants (both Old Port and the Arts District). We can't see how anyone could be unhappy with this place--we recommend!

I was very surprised by this hotel. I like Holiday Inns but this was probably the best one I stayed in (only wish they had free Breakfast). The beds and pillows were comfy and they had THE best chair to lounge in (more comfortable than my furniture at home). I don't know if this is only for priority members but I received a bag with water, 3 cookies and 2 lottery tickets (different) along with local maps upon my arrival. I thought that was really nice. We had a bayview window which was nice and the kids enjoyed their pool. The restaurant was reasonably priced for breakfast and the foods was good. I also liked how when we checked out they offered us some cold water to go! The hotel was impressive in its looks, you can tell it caters to the business crowd. The hotel was a couple of blocks away from "old port" but it wasn't too bad. I'd stay here again if I was in the area in the future.

Stayed at Holiday Inn by the Bay for one night and have nothing negative to review. The room and bathroom was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, the hotel itself was quiet and in a wonderful location. The price was steep for what I would normally pay for a hotel chain, but worth the convenience of being in downtown Portland.

We book well in advance knowing that the last weekends in July are camper visiting weekends in Maine and Portland hotels book early. Why do we return? Excellent value, large, clean rooms with comfortable beds, and friendly helpful service from all employees.
Several complimentary offers including underground parking, shuttle van to the restaurant action at the port, lobby coffee & lemonade, use of the fitness center and beverage vouchers for the bar/lounge help make the stay a relative bargain. The hotel is an easy walk to the terrific Museum of Art (free after 5pm on Fridays) and good restaurants on/off Congress Street. The drive from the hotel to Naples on Sebago Lake (camper central!) takes just over an hour. We love the greater Portland area so much we may even return for a visit even though our daughter is "graduating" from overnight camp!

Room Tip: Ask for a refrigerator--not all rooms have them.

We stayed one night here. The room was clean and the bathroom was a good size. It was convenient to walk to downtown. We were given a goody bag upon check - in.
