We stayed two nights, August 2 and 3, 2014.
If it was an option, I would have rated this Hampton Inn at 4 1/2.
I always keep in mind the area when I write reviews. Based on my own experience and the experiences of others, this is clearly the best in town and likely as good as any lodging in Aroostook County, Maine.
As I would expect when in rural Maine, everyone connected with the hotel was friendly and helpful. The room, the bathroom, the corridors, the elevators, and the lobby were all neat and clean. The place pretty much still looks new even though it was built around 5 years ago.
As happens at many places I stay, the bed pillows were too soft for my taste. Staff replaced them with some that were a bit better. The typical Hampton breakfast was fine although the cooked egg dishes were overdone and dry. There was a good variety, and remember that it's free with the room. Since there is a state Department of Transportation maintenance area somewhat close to the rear of the building, it is possible that there could be some noise during weekday work hours. We were there on a weekend, so all was quiet.
The weekend room rates were very reasonable. The weekday rates are somewhat high for the area, but likely justified by the quality of the hotel.More
