“Highlight of my trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

The Maine coast is geared to tourists however I felt that going on the Captain Jack Lobster Boat gave me a taste of Maine life. I loved being on the boat (only 6 passengers allowed) and seeing what lobstermen do. The first mate kindly answered all my questions. We were able to purchase 2 of the lobsters and have it cooked on the dock by another company.I highly recommend this for a real taste of Maine.

“Fantastic adventure! Will remember this trip the rest of our lives!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

Captain Jack's lobster boat trip is fantastic! We took the kids on a beautiful sunny morning in June and had a blast.

The captain and first mate were funny, interactive and informative. The kids got to hold the lobsters, play with sea urchins, and touch the crabs.

We didn't go that far out, but enough to see a bit of the harbor and learn a lot about the lobster business. At the end of the trip, we bought a few lobsters right off the boat for $5 a pound. That night, we feasted!

We will remember this trip for many years to come and highly recommend it for families or anyone who wants to learn about the lobster business. We loved the fact that this is a real working lobster boat, not just a tourist operation.

“Caught an ENORMOUS Lobster”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

They caught a lobster that was too big to keep! These guys did a great job answering questions and explaining what they do. They are very friendly. We had a great time! You can even buy some of the catch before you leave.

“More fun than you think”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Captain Jack (Steve) is a terrific guy who has been lobstering most all his life. He and his helper were entertaining, informative and very pleasant to spend time with. This excursion gives you a real sense of what a lobster-man does.

“Great Fun for Kids!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

We took our 4 and 6 year olds on the boat. I would highly recommend this trip for small kids. It's about an hour which is just the right amount of time to ask little kids to sit on a boat. The boat is fairly small and will only take 6 passengers at a time. You are not actually lobster fishing but are watching the captain and first mate haul out the traps. The kids can touch the lobsters and anything else that gets trapped in the traps. In addition to the lobsters, we saw different types of crabs, sea snails, sea stars, urchins and little fish. Our kids brought buckets and got to keep the little fish and sea snails. There is no prepared speach on board but if you ask questions they are very knowledgeable about the sea life but also the local area. A family with small kids will definately enjoy!! Apply sunscreen and bring a wind jacket for little kids (gets chilly). They have life jackets so no need to bring. No bathroom, so make sure little ones take a bathroom break prior to boarding. Parking is free at the harbor.
