While walking the streets of Rockland we came upon a relatively new spot, the Lobsterman Restaurant, which was offering fresh oysters on the half shell @1.25 per and beer for happy hour. The waitress was charming. The oysters, local, fresh and salty. Perfect!

We stopped by there for happy hour which they advertise as half-price menu items. But what they don't tell you is that the half-price items are a smaller size and do NOT include a side like the full-price menu items. The only half-price was on the beer. So that was misleading. The food was just okay - nothing to get too excited about.

We have eaten at this restaurant the last three years we have traveled to Maine.
Excellent meal each time. Lunch and Dinner.
This evening we were there for dinner. Had the Captains platter and a platter of oysters on the half shell and the lobster chowder. Out of site!
Keep up the good work, we shall be back.

Came here for lunch and it was so great we came back for dinner. The owner is a lobsterman who decided to open a restaurant to sell his daily catch, and for that we are forever grateful! My husband said this is the best haddock he's had outside of Scotland, and from him, that's high praise indeed.
Yes, service is slow, but it is pleasant and attentive. But to be honest, you're on vacation in Maine. If you're in a hurry, vacation in Tokyo.
Heck...was so good we may be back for dinner tomorrow.

Got a seat right away at a super sticky table by the window. Waited and waited for the only server in the restaurant. She was very sweet and we were very patient. It took an hour to get our food, but we figured it would be worth the wait. What an absolute joke! The lobster chowder was served in a small mug with barely any meat or flavor. The lobster mac and cheese had very little meat. The lobster platter had a laughable amount of lobster in a tiny cruet dish. My lobster salad had a marginal amount of meat in it. The biggest joke of the evening was the $130 bill. For what? Terrible food and service. Worst "Lobster experience" in Maine or ever, for that matter. However, I do want to close with one positive comment, the mussels were pretty tasty.
