We've been to Primo several times now and each visit is as fresh and innovative as the last. With garden-to-table dining, you can tell the difference and it's a dramatic one. I love arugula; and just last week at Primo I had a salad with arugula, creamy mozzarello, fresh mission figs and lighter-than-air dressing. It was one of the best salads I've ever eaten. Pastas are silken, with imaginative toppings that range from seafood to duck bolognese; they are available in both entree or appetizer size. Seafood is used imaginatively without compromising its basic goodness. Chef Kelley runs a superb kitchen. She also has an extraordinary staff--astute and low key, knowledgeable, gracious, caring without being cloying. While this restaurant is a recognized gem in the culinary world, and deservedly so, we always feel welcome and comfortable there--no pretense, no attitude. Just truly wonderful food. Bravo!

This is a fabulous restaurant with great food and service. If you sit upstairs you get access to the small plate menu and the downstairs more formal method. Upstairs you can also see the cooking area for the small plates. They keep this area for walk in diners (we got there early to sit upstairs). Staff was very well informed. Ordered off both menus and food was excellent. Can get more reasonable priced meal upstairs with small plates. Great assortment. Menu changes daily. Local sourcing from farms. Get here if you can. Reservations are necessary (except for walk in area) far in advance.

Primo is celebrating its 15th year in providing innovative, locally sourced food and my hat is off to them. We have been coming since it opened and it continues to impress and not take its success lightly.

When we travel we try to avoid the chain restaurants and always try to sample the 'local flavor'. When we were in Rockland, Maine some friends recommended Primo. As soon as we drove up to to the restaurant we knew it was something special. We arrived early for our reservation and took a few minutes to walk around the restaurant's working farm: they grow their own herbs, vegetables, flowers and also raise pigs, chickens and ducks. While we were there one of the chefs walked out from the kitchen to fresh pick some herbs (I assume for a dish he was preparing).
Once we got inside, the service was excellent. The staff was very professional and friendly. They seem to really love what they do. My wife has a number of food allergies and they were VERY attentive to make sure that the items she ordered were exactly to her liking.
The food was absolutely delicious. It was obviously prepared with the kind of care and creativity that only comes from having an onsite chef/owner. Each dish was an elegant and unique combination of fresh, local flavors. Everyone in our party of seven absolutely loved it.
Highly recommended!!
