Finally real good Mexican food in midcoast Maine. Love this place. Super fresh food, great atmosphere. Limited hours but worth it!

“Simple Mexican”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2013

I had the taco salad with shredded beef and added guacamole. It was tasty. For me, it was the perfect size entree. The lettuce was not wet like in some other taco salads I have had. As a result, the tortilla chips stay nice and crunchy. That's right no deep fried tortilla bowl. That was ok with that since I do not like those. My husband had the enchiladas. The portion was smaller than he is accustomed to for Mexican restaurants, so he didn't leave stuffed.

“Good thing they don't call themselves 'sure fire' Mexican grill!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2013

My husband and I just returned from lunch......what a disappointment! After reading all the trip advisor reviews, we were really excited to go here. We ordered the chips with salsa and guacamole. The salsa and guacamole were tasty, but the chips were nothing special.....grocery store brand, right out of the bag. We read that the margaritas were delicious, so we each ordered one. Disappointing again. Super sweet margarita mix out of the grocery store bottle. Nothing creative here so far. I ordered a taco salad. It was tasty, but how can you screw up veggies??? My husband ordered the lunch special of two enchiladas with rice and beans. He said the enchiladas were good, but the rice was crunchy and the beans were out of the can. Our lunch bill, before tip was $62.33! Do yourself a favor and don't crave Mexican food when you are in Rockland!

“Great Food In Tiny Portions”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2013

Four of us dined at Sunfire in August, ordering different entrees. We all found our meals very tasty and artistically presented, with excellent service in pleasant surroundings. While none of us have unusually active appetites, we all found the portions small. It would probably not be an issue if you have appetizers and desserts, but we were hungry an hour after dinner. Mid-range entrees with a glass of wine ran to about $50/couple with tip. We would have rated Sunfire higher were it not for the small portion size.

“Good basic Mexican”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

SInce we're from Maine we didn't need to find a seafood place for lunch during our vacation and my son wanted Mexican. We had a nice lunch with homemade guac and chips ($7 - and they don't offer free chips and salsa for the table). The food was good, but portions fairly small for the price.
