“Wedding of our dreams”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

We decided to have our wedding at the Black Point Inn after looking at multiple venues, and feeling that each one would be a compromise, except for the BPI. The BPI had everything we were looking for; a large stunning function room, a beautiful lawn facing the ocean, great food and staff that made us feel so welcomed!
The BPI were so accommodating. We were concerned since we were not having the most traditional wedding that we would feel out of place. On the contrary! They rolled with every crazy request we had, and on the day of the wedding went above an beyond all our expectations! When I walked in to the venue the day of the wedding I was so amazed by how perfect everything was. BPI took care of setting up all of our decorations, putting out all the place cards, and favors. They did all the food for the wedding (which for weeks after people could not stop talking about!) and made our cake which was stunning!

Landace Porta the events manager is amazing! She is so professional and such a joy to work with! She understood what we were going for from the very beginning, was so kind and pleasant, and made our wedding day a success. She answered every email, and every question we had, and made sure we were able to let go and enjoy our night. I don't know how we would have done this without her.

We are so grateful for the Black Point Inn giving us the wedding of our dreams!

Were meeting friends in the Portland area and suggested we meet at the Black Point Inn for breakfast. Turned out, it was the Sunday they would be shutting down for the winter. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast looking out over the inside bay on a beautiful late fall afternoon. Very good breakfast selection, we lingered for awhile. Last visit here was a number of years ago for a family wedding reception on a Christmas Eve, never to be forgotten. That was when they had cabins to stay in as well as the main building. I have nothing but fond memories of BPI and its wonderful setting.

Thank you for your kind words! We're very glad to hear the Inn holds such fond memories for you; we like to think it's quite the special place. The Inn reopens on May 9th this year and we hope to see you again sometime during the season!

We stopped here for lunch over the summer and had the good fortune of a warm, sunny day and the possibility to sit outdoors. All of us enjoyed our lunches, however the burger was amazing! It was freshly ground sirloin on an excellent bun, all perfectly cooked. I've only ever had one better (in a Four Seasons in the Middle East) and would highly recommend it assuming that the kitchen hasn't changed a thing! Not inexpensive, but worth it!

The Black Point Inn restaurant was a very unpleasant place to have dinner. The Chart Room was so noisy we could not have a conversation with the other couple at our table. My husband had a rubber lobster tail that was difficult to cut and eat. The sauce was inedible. My $34 scallop dinner had three medium size scallops and some salad. The service was poor compared to the price of the meal. We live locally and will not return. There are many better places to eat that are also priced more reasonably.

Room Tip: We were only there for dinner as we live locally.

For the price, not great. The waitress described one meal with "saffron creme fraiche" as "chiffon cream fresh." One dish was supposedly galette was nothing more than rice baked in a mold. The lamb was tender and properly cooked, but over salted. The desserts, a pumpkin/chocolate cream pie and the house selection of cookies, were without flavor. Prices indicated a four star restaurant, and the atmosphere (fireplaces, furnishings, sea views) indicate such, but the meals simply did not measure up.

Last minute decision to stay the night near Portland and so very glad we did. All hotels were booked in town. Another resort recommended this charming resort accomodation. The reservation assistant was very warm and friendly and extremely accomodating. This is a beautiful setting for a wedding, family get to gether or romantic get a way. The hotel room was wonderful with a wonderful balcony even with out the ocean view that some of the rooms have. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and don't miss the opportunity to ride their bikes down the road a bit for spectacular views of the ocean! We will return!

Room Tip: If you can manage ask for an ocean view room!

This past September was my second visit to Black Point Inn. It will not be my last! I intend to make this at least a once a year visit! (I am working on making it a twice a year visit.) It is the best place to come to when you need that time for your self! The accommodations are sumptuous, the service personal, and the food and wine is delightful. You are a very special guest here. And if you love the water and the natural resources of Maine, they are here!

Room Tip: I enjoyed the bay view from my suite.
