We did not stay at the inn so I can't speak to the quality of the rooms. We ate lunch there one day while driving around MDI. The decoration was relatively kitschy and fun(unintentionally I think). The service was great and the food was good. There aren't a lot of options in Seal Harbor for eating but this is a good one.

We stayed in the pink room for 2 nights during our honeymoon in 2007. Some staff had been staying in the room adjoined to us. We found out they had been spying on us thru keyhole. We called the cops, got our $ back and left. DONT STAY THERE!!!!! I have the police report to prove this is real.

The herb-crusted rack of lamb was great! Cooked to perfection! The lobster stew was very tasty too.

I have fond memories of the time my family lived in Seal Harbor, and the trips to the beach there. The town has suffered economically over the years, and the Lighthouse is one of the few businesses left in town. It is the only inn and restaurant in town, and is just a short walk to the town green and beach. And the parking lot for the beach is where the free Island Shuttle bus stops. We used one day to tour Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor travelling entirely on the free shuttles. The three 'efficiencies' that the inn has to offer are value-priced. We stayed in the Gold Room, which is the least expensive at $75/night in season, $45/night out of season. It is also the room most in need of updating, but was an acceptable homebase for our 3 day visit to Mt. Desert Island.

We stayed in the blue room. On the plus side, it is spacious with a mini fridge, microwave, and sink. However, the bathroom is very small with a flimsy accordion-style door. The whole place - carpet, fixtures, furnishings - is pretty shoddy, and lots of little things were wrong with it, like overhead lights being burnt out. Not a disaster, but I would not recommend it.

The price for the rooms are very reasonable. We had the gold room which was a little tight and the bathroom was very small. It's worth the price for a day or two. we didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on it.

We have had dinner at the Lighthouse a number of times and throughly enjoyed the classic downeast hospitality and delicious food. Great service and plan to dine their again. Well worth it.
