“Amazing, Peaceful Lakefront Getaway”
Reviewed 9 February 2015 for a stay in August 2014

Kill Kare is an incredible place to visit, every year I count the days until my next visit! It's so relaxing to escape to this area of Maine where there is no cell service or internet to recharge for a few days on the lake. Picking up Lobsters and other fresh seafood at the Co-Op and cooking them up in the kitchen is a favorite activity! Stay on the lake and read or go any one of the ocean-front towns that are a short drive away, or even make the approx. 1 hour trip to Acadia National Park for some hiking. You will leave feeling more relaxed than you thought possible!

“The best of old and new on the prettiest lake in Maine”
Reviewed 8 February 2015 for a stay in July 2014

To visit Kill Kare is to step back in time to the early 20th century without leaving modern comforts behind.

This exquisite summer cottage offers postcard-perfect lake views, gracious spaces to relax both inside and out and a well-equipped kitchen. A staircase off the porch leads to a modern, splinter-free dock where you can sunbathe before hopping into the pristine lake for a swim out to the diving dock or just exploring the shoreline.

The hosts have known and loved the area for generations and had thought of everything a guest might need. Planning a lobster feast? You'll find crackers, picks and a steamer pot in the labelled cabinets. Wonder where to find the best produce? An up to date list of local farmer's markets on the kitchen helped us coordinate shopping with sightseeing.

Surrounded by blueberry fields and balsam woods yet convenient to both Mount Desert and Deer Isle Kill Kare offers the perfect base for exploring the region or doing nothing at all.

“Idyllic Maine MUST Stay!”

Ever since I was a little girl I've always dreamed of Maine. I remember the first time I saw the picture of Kill Kare Kamp in 2010. I just knew I had to stay there. Finally in the summer of 2014 my dream came true.

I am happy to say... That everything about Kill Kare did not disappoint! From the lovely family room with beautiful fireplace to the sunny and well equipped kitchen and quite frankly ...All of the rooms within this lovely home were delightful.
Oh.... and lets not forget about the porch.... I could have spent my entire time on the grand ole porch!

This magical home is steeped in a nostalgic heritage that is rich in history and generations of love of family and friends.

I can go on and on about my time at Kill Kare Kamp on Walkers Pond, for it was everything I had dreamed of and more.

I long to go back again and hear the call of the Loon and watch magical dragon flys do their dance and simply bask in the quiet sounds of nature and take in the sunshine and cool breeze kayaking or relaxing on the porch.

For this Pennsylvania girl Kill Kare Kamp did not disappoint in any way.

I was overwhelmed with the hospitality of the Larsons. Truly kind and gracious hosts that love and care for this beautiful Maine Classic

Truly an idyllic Maine Must!

“Charming cottage with spectacular sunsets”
Reviewed 3 February 2015 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed here with a large group of friends and the experience was fantastic. The house has so much charm and the juxtaposition on the lake provides beautiful vistas with either your cup of coffee in the morning, lobster roll at lunch, or with a beverage at cocktail hour. Explore the lake, take a walk in the woods, or drive over to the ocean side and explore all that this special area of Maine has to offer. We can't wait to go back!

“Love Killkare”
Reviewed 2 February 2015 for a stay in July 2014

Although I did not stay here, this place holds a dear place in my heart. I used to go to camp on the old property and this was the Camp Directors home. As a camper we were never allowed to go to Kilcare, but as we got older we were invited for tea. Now in my late 40's some camp friends and I go to Maine every 4 years and rent two houses, Kilcare being one of them. The house is lovely and feels very homey. The outside deck space is ideal for watching the loons and the lake at Sunset. There is a float not too far from the dock that is great to swim to.You are surrounded by peace and tranquility. It is a lovely spot! The house has everything you can imagine for a restful and lovely stay!

“Charmed House”
Reviewed 1 February 2015 for a stay in August 2014

My family went to Kill Kare for our third time this year. The house remains just as charmed as always. We spent our days kayaking, reading, swimming, eating, and above all else relaxing. I cannot recommend this house more highly for a group between 4-10 looking for some peace, quiet, and relaxation.
