By far, the best place to stay. It is close to the mountains, white water rafting, fairs, and moose viewing. The staff are knowledgeable about the area and the best places to go. It looked new and was sparking clean.

This is a 60’s style L-shaped motor hotel with the pool out front by the road, just as pictured. But it is totally renovated, very well maintained, and doesn’t feel like an old place. I had a room on the 2nd floor (216) that was quiet, had ample space, and was scrupulously clean. No musty smell, no evidence of smoking or pets, just a good, basic place to stay that the owners are obviously doing an outstanding job of maintaining. I was struck by how clean the hotel was...i've been in many a 4/5 star that wasn't this clean. You pull into a place like this and aren’t sure what you will get, but this motel was great. I encountered no problems at all with noise and got a good night’s sleep.

Room had a king bed (firm), small table, small desk, chairs, an armoire with 32” flat screen TV with all the cable channels, mini-fridge, coffee pot, etc. It lacked nothing. The bathroom had a basic shower/tub, sink/vanity, and everything was spotless. A/C provided by a window unit worked just fine on a 75 degree sticky July day. The swimming pool looked like new, it was so clean. No noise issues: the road out front quiets down at night, and there’s woods behind the property. Being on the 2nd floor surely helps, as did the fact that not all the rooms were filled.

If you're a walker/jogger you can go the mile back to downtown, this is a small town so you should be okay. There's a restaurant you can walk to that's said to be good but I didn't end up trying it.

Continental breakfast was included, and was better than usual for a “free hotel breakfast” in that it had good bagels, very good wheat bread with a couple of jams, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, coffee, OJ. For a place in a small town that looks like an old 60’s throwback from the outside, I had a better experience here than I sometimes have at big-name chain hotels on the interstates.

Room Tip: The rooms are described on the hotel's website and what I saw was accurate. I don't think y...

June 29, 2014 stay. Well maintained property and a friendly greeting at the front desk. Convenient to dining. Pet friendly. We would certainly recommend the Towne to any that find themselves travelling through Skowhegan.

We decided to leave for Quebec City on Wednesday afternoon and drive as far as Skowhegan. We looked at the options on Trip Advisor and decided to book the Towne Motel for that evening. It was as expected and more. The cleanliness and upkeep were superb. The people up front were very nice. The breakfast room in the office was a very pleasant experience in the morning that Thursday. We were delighted with this hotel in all regards and would most definitely stay here again.

This is the second time we've stayed at this motel. There's something to be said for family-owned, well-kept properties. The rooms are spacious, and very clean. It's conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. It would be nice if they offered a bigger breakfast selection (similarly priced hotels in other cities usually do) it is by no means a deal breaker.

I have to admit I had low expectations for this motel, but we were in town for a wedding and it was only one night so I was prepared to suck it up.
I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly woman at the front desk. The rooms were nicely accommodated and there was even an in-ground pool (though we didn't use it).
The issue was when it came time for a shower. No hot water. My parents were staying there as well and they didn't have hot water either. So that kind of ruined what was going to be a decent time away.

If I have to be in this area again I will probably stay somewhere else just to be safe.

As owners and managers of the Towne Motel, this guest is absolutely right. On May 24th, around 9pm, there was a failure with one of our hot water tanks that was corrected by 7:15 the following morning. There is no doubt this guest, is parents and a portion of our other guests were inconvenienced. We are very regretful this happened and have refunded this guest, his family and several other guests for their entire nights stay with us.

We pride ourselves with having sparkling clean rooms, a nutritious and expanded continental breakfast as well as a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I am glad this guest found his accommodations comfortable in every other way.
