Okay, I am a little behind the curve but I wanted to put in my 2 cents. I was in college in the 90's and Jenny, Becky and I had a free weekend. We put destinations in a hat and drew "Maine." Pretty vague but we set out. After driving all night we got to Maine and stopped at a visitor information center and saw a brochure for Atlantic Seal. We called and booked the largest of the rooms with two beds. We were greeted well and given a tour of the inn, grounds and beautiful cove on which the inn lies. After driving through the night and not wanting to drive far we walked to the end of the street for the single greatest meal of my life....freshly caught lobster steamed to perfection enjoyed in a small restaurant on the bay on picnic tables with checkered tableclothes. After a wonderful night's sleep we woke to breakfast and discovered the pure and decadent joy of their Featherbed Eggs. A better night I have not had since....We spent the remainder of the day shopping the outlets in Freeport. Impoverished, fulfilled and fashionable we returned to "normal" life....More
