I always look for hotels with low price, but relatively good reviews. This one fits the bill. Hotel was clean and comfortable, staff was courteous, and the hotel is a short drive from Interstates 95/295 and downtown Portland. I would agree with others that the breakfast was average. Pool was a little cold, and had no hot tub. But it was good for a two night stay.

We booked this hotel because our preferred hotels were almost double the price, probably due to high season (October). It's dated, say from the early '80's decor, some of the walls were "scuffed," meaning a good scrubbing with hot water and soap could have made them clean, an empty box that had contained a new toilet lay in one of the exit hallways instead of being discarded, and the sink outside the bathroom drained a tad slowly.

On the up side, the front desk crew were friendly efficient and professional, calling a few minutes after we arrived to ask how we liked the room. We asked to be "away" (a hotel term meaning away from the hustle and noise of some parts of the hotel) and we got a quiet room at the end of a long corridor on the second floor. Never heard the swimmers in the indoor pool.

The room had two double beds, a nice flat-screen TV, and a desk. No armchair. I should have asked for a room with one, I usually do. It was clean, the beds and linens clean and comfortable and all-told we slept well, and that's all you can hope for at a hotel like this. There was no coffee bar in the lobby or anywhere else and no attached restaurant.

A great feature is that it's located right off the exit from Rt. 295 (I believe it's the Broadway/So. Portland exit), and it's 5 to 10 minutes to downtown Portland, depending on the traffic and where you want to go. It's also on Main Street in what I call the "old" South Portland, the part that existed before the Mall.

It did include breakfast, but we did not partake. There were a bunch of families with small kids in soccer uniforms, very cute, meaning it's a mid-priced hotel that will appeal to families on a budget. We never heard a peep from them, and that's very telling, as the pool was open til 11 p.m.

All in all, we would stay there again, but prefer the hotels with more amenities, like name-brand coffee in the room with half and half and not powder, an armchair and a more cozy lobby.

Room Tip: Away from the pool and elevator.

The breakfast was below std, very dull, no variety. I have a large family and always pick hotels with free breakfast. Most have a hot choice, at least some variety day to day. Internet speed was slow. Pool ok, could use hot tub. Noise from halls, not much sound proofing. Location was great, I95 right there.

Checked in for two nights with wife and 20 year old son.
Pleasant and easy check-in. 4th floor room with ok view. Room was very clean and fresh, larger than usual with comfortable beds. Fast internet. Large bathroom in which everything worked.
All staff at all times were helpful and interested.
Overall, for the price, an excellent place to stay!!

Room Tip: Room 416 has a nice view!!
