“beautiful scenery, good lobster”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

This is a quintessential lobster pound on the shore of Maine with their shack right on the docks. Based on Spruce Head Island this is a great source of steamed lobster with all the trimmings. Service is friendly, prices are reasonable. Desserts are not great - do not buy the cookies. The scenery is wonderful with sea breezes to lift your spirits. Outdoor seating only. The drive out is very enjoyable.

So glad to hear you enjoyed your lobster dinner and appreciated the scenery on Spruce Head Island! Regarding the cookies, we have noticed that there have been some inconsistencies in their preparation and are currently fixing the issue! If you visit us again, please enjoy a slice of our locally made pies, on the house. Thanks for the review!

“You gotta go!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Nice drive to a cool, old school lobster shack with great food and delightful personnel. You get to pick your own live lobster and our hostess/waitress was fabulous.

“HIdden Gem”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Outstanding food in a scenic setting. My family vacationed in coastal Maine during late May, 2014. The location is immediately adjacent to a commercial fisherman's docking facility. The site is spotless and very scenic. Service was excellent and all employees were cordial and pleasant. The 'restaurant' is more of a small trailer for meal preparation and several small picnic tables nearby. Menu is based on fresh seafood. In fact, if you order lobster, an employee will walk to the dock, raise a lobster cage, and collect your meal. Our family had superb lobster rolls, lobster chowder, and the like. Deserts were outstanding; strawberry/rhubarb pie and blueberry pie - each were homemade double-crust pies served warm with ice cream. You have to hunt to find McLoons, but it is well worth the effort. We ate at McLoons twice during our vacation. I highly recommend McLoons Lobster Shack.

“Go for the view and stay for the food!”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

McLoons Lobster Shack is a great new addition in the Midcoast area and quickly become a local favorite. The views are fantastic, be sure to bring your camera, and food is delicious and reasonably priced. Service is friendly and the crab rolls and lobster rolls are one of the best in the area.

“Great lobster stew”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

We have been 3 times now and one of us always has the lobster stew and loves it. Very simple, lobster meat in a rich and delicious creamy liquid. It comes in a pint container and is more than enough for lunch or a light dinner. As others have mentioned the view is great. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. It is great fun to watch them fire up the electric winch to pull the lobster crate that sits in the water below the pier up to get another lobster out for steaming.

They have good deserts and hamburgers and hotdogs so you can bring along folks that don't want lobster (if such people exist)
