I stayed in one of the rooms witha 'view' in the Phillips House. The inside of the room was decorated very well, and in good condition, but the service was lacking at the B&B.

My husband wanted something to drink one night, and there were no glasses in the room. He went to the front desk to see if there was a vending machine to get a Coke or somewhere to get a glass for water, and they told him to go into town. This B&B has a full restaurant inside, but couldn't arrange for a simple glass of water, it was very dissapointing.

Maine is a large state with lots of waterfront towns. Southwest Harbor on Mt. Desert Island is a great place to experience it all - beautiful harbors, picture perfect small towns, great hiking in a beautiful park, and, of course, all the lobster one could hope for. We chose the Claremont, a historic hotel as our base. The rooms are comfortable, and the public rooms invite one to hang out before a small fire and visit with new friends. On warm evenings have cocktails on the back deck. We thought the restaurant was really quite good and its prices reasonable. There are three croquet courts beside the bay. Around in the woods are "cottages" that can be had for the whole family, or the rooms may be taken seperately

Room Tip: We liked 103, a corner room with lots of light.

We enjoyed our visit to this to this Victorian Hotel. The hotel is located in a quite area of Southwest. The rooms are bright and airy, very clean. The views of the water are wonderful. It was so nice to sit on the front porch with a glass of wine and watch the boats on the water or read a book. The breakfast was very good with a daily hot selection or 2 and wonderful fruit and muffins. All of the staff were great. They went out of their to help you. I want to give a special thanks to William and Janet for helping my Mom and Dad be as comfortable as possible when there was a problem with the elevator. Thank you again.
The location of the hotel is good for access to the park and there are a number of good places to eat in Southwest. We hope to go back again next year!

This is a beautiful and quietly elegant hotel with three croquet fields manicured to perfection. The room we had, had a wonderful view and deck and had been recently remodeled. No TV or amenities, but that is why one stays here, to leave everyday life behind for a time and truly relax.

We stayed here on a recent bike trip to Acadia. We had a room on the second floor with a private bathroom. This place is fabulous! You feel like you are stepping back in time. And you cannot beat the location. The views from the back are amazing.

We stayed 2 weeks in cabin W1. This cabin provided everything we wanted.
It was on the Claremont hotel property. This provided access to the Thursday night lectures and the Saturday evening events in addition to all the amenities of the hotel.
We had privacy in a large (about 800 square feet) well designed cabin.
The cabin enabled us to prepare meals, enjoy enjoy refreshments on the deck, sleep very well with fresh cool air through ther open windows. There was no TV which was perfect for us. We could easily walk to the downtown area of Southwest harbor.
Wa plan on staying here again. Overall, a great location in Southwest Harbor.

They just don't make them like this anymore...The Inn is simple and classic, clean and lovely. We have been here many times and are never disappointed. It is not a "hotel", so do not stay here if that is what you are looking for, but instead a charming Inn overlooking the sea, with tea served in the afternoon, cocktails at 5pm at the boathouse below. Certainly civilized. It is a bit like your summer stay on the coast as a child, if you were lucky enough to do that. If not, you should experience this.
