I've stayed at inns around the world & without a doubt The Lindenwood Inn keeps calling me back. Throughout the 15 years that I've frequented the inn, it has never disappointed. From the moment you step through the door beauty and comfort abound. The Innkeepers have created an almost magical environment where your every need is catered to seamlessly. You are instantly at ease in their presence & feel like pampered guests your entire stay. From the gorgeous tiled hot tub, to the exquisitely adorned, unique guest rooms, to the classy bar which operates on the honor system, you will fully enjoy your stay. I guarantee it!

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this bed and breakfast. Aside from finding that our hosts were fellow Aussies, all staff were so warm and genuine and keen to make sure everything was to our liking. The atmosphere is charming, and ever care is taken to add to that feeling of comfort and pleasure. The the room we had was their "smallest", and yes, it wasn't huge, but it was beautifully presented, with a private bathroom and luxury details. The brekkies were lovely, and the room rates were really decent for what you get! We drove to Bar Harbour, went hiking in the national park, had a great dinner at the Burning Tree, and finished the day with a beer (from the Inn's own bar) in the jacuzzi. It is no surprise that this Inn has a loyal return-customer base.

We have been visiting this charming inn since the late 90's. It so relaxing and inviting. The rooms are comfortable, well furnished and eclectic in their appeal. The innkeepers are terrific fun. The breakfasts are inventive and well prepared. We like rooms 4 and 6, but if you want to swing for a bit more, look at 5 and the penthouse. There is a pool which we haven't used as we are often there when it is too cold. The inn is on the quiet side of Mt Desert Island, home of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park - reasons for visiting alone. Many lobster pounds, lots of trails to walk or hike, beautiful park to visit. Don't wait! Go and stay at the Lindenwood - quiet and restfull.

One of my best friends and I were meeting up in Maine for a road trip that would end in Massachusetts. I had never been S.W. Harbor Maine or the Lindenwood Inn. My friend told me I would love the Inn and the Inn keepers and he was absolutely right on both accounts! We stayed three nights (we each had our own rooms) originally we were only going to stay two, but we both loved it so much we added on another night! The Inn is beautiful and charming all at the same time, so much detail is paid to every rooom! The minute we walked in the front door we were greeted by Esther and she was sincerely warm and welcoming! We were told all about our delicious breakfasts that are part of the price when you stay and things around us to see and do! We met the Inn keepers and they are true gems! They made us feel so at home, anything we needed or wanted! We felt really special while staying there! Mario made the most amazing omelets and other breakfast items and Esther does the baking, we had the most delicious breakfast every morning! I will never want my usual bowl of morning cereal again! The Inn keepers treat you like the guest that you are, but in a sincere and caring way! I truly hope to be able to get back to the Lindenwood Inn and enjoy another vacation there! I can not say enough good things about it! Thank you to everyone at the Lindenwood for making those three days so memorable!!! P.S. They even have a swimming pool and jacuzzi!

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful!!!

I've stayed in a number of B&B's and most are fine and the hosts are friendly. The Lindenwood Inn however was a step above most and that is due mainly to the genuine friendliness and help from the owners and staff. With so many things to see and do on Mt. Desert Island, an outsider needs knowledgeable local people to sort out the really worthwhile hikes, sites, restaurants, etc. so you don't waste valuable vacation time. That's what they did for us.

As for atmosphere, everything we saw was very attractive. The decor is somewhat classic but with unique touches and is very comfortable. The breakfast room is sunny and spacious. The flagstone patio is inviting and the hot tub was always at the right temperature - not so hot so as to make you lightheaded.

Hot gourmet breakfasts are served every morning and they will alter the dish to your liking.

Southwest Harbor is great if you want to be away from the hubbub of Bar Harbor but you're still only 20 minutes or so from the park main entrance. For it's size, it has plenty of good restaurants without the overly commercial gift shops and touristy stuff.

Room Tip: The cottage is very nice. It is separate from the main house so affords more privacy. It has a gas f...

We stayed in the 3rd floor penthouse, and it was so worth the extra money! While the ceilings were sloped and a bit crowding for tall folks (like myself and my husband) the terrace more than made up for it. We brought our 9 month old daughter with us and there was plenty of room for her pack'n'play. While the bed was quite comfortable, I recommend bringing your own pillow if you prefer anything other than standard poly stuffed. The breakfast was superb, and they even accommodated our request for scrambled eggs for baby girl to eat. The owners and staff are friendly and professional. We would definitely return!

Ester and crew really made our stay in Southwest Harbor a wonderful experience. With only 48 hours to spend in this great area, Ester helped to plan our days and evenings. Great biking, eating and sightseeing all from this very lovely inn. Distinct affordable rooms in a residential location on a quiet road. Great couple of days away!

Room Tip: Room 6 is a great room
