Description: Each table in Xanthus boasts a view of Acadia's mountains, Somes Sound, and the outer islands of Frenchman's Bay. A buffet breakfast and dinner are served daily when the hotel is open. The new hotel bar, which features an atrium skylight and detailed woodwork, is a popular setting for pre- dinner cocktails. Evening dinner service includes candlelit tables, linen, fresh flowers and attentive service. The menu changes regularly and features thoughtful regional cuisine using the finest local ingredients, fresh seafood and organic produce. Our wine list is carefully selected and offers interesting wines from around the world, both by the bottle and the glass. In keeping with the setting, appropriate attire is requested in the evening, and while jackets are not required, they are suggested.

Restaurant with great food and wonderful ambience. Extensive wine list at reasonable prices. Be sure to walk through the Inn and visit the porch overlooking the water. A little hard to find so watch for the signs

My wife and I had an outstanding meal. Our table was at the window, looking out to the water. Staff was friendly and attentive, just right. Wanted to check out the newly opened place right on the water for lunch, but didn't make it there. We would add this to Red Sky as a "nice night out" dining experience when in the area.

The Claremont is one of the few very old hotels around. The dining room in the hotel is very nice. It does have a dress code, but only requires men to have long pants and a shirt with a collar; so that is very reasonable for a nice dinner. Very nice location in a quiet part of Soutwest Harbor. Menu changes nightly but when we were there had a good selection of typical Maine fare. Food was excellent, service very good, and ambieance a little nicer than most other places in Acadia.

President Obama came to the island with his wife, daughters and mother-in-law and had lunch here. We usually eat outdoors down by the water, but that venue was closed for the season and we had an excellent dinner with friends on her birthday. The waitress was very professional, the wine list excellent and the food superb. It is a rather expensive dinner, however. The hotel is over 100 years old, I believe, but is quite grand. The dining room is charming.

Need reservation and jacket (First night can't eat there because we didn't reserve). The room has big windows on 3 sides, and the harbor view is beautiful. The service and food are very good (Our veal and halibut cooked perfect), but does not have too much choice (Maybe because they change menu daily, but I see two days having the same menu).
