It is always a pleasure to return to Acadia Cottages. I wasn't sure what to expect with the new owners but Tom and Vicki are wonderful hosts. The studio cottage is perfect for the couple that wants to truly relax. We brought most of our own food so we could use the kitchenette. Who doesn't want to sit on the deck and listen to the bullfrogs as you enjoy an adult beverage with your dinner. It is quiet and peaceful and for someone that is constantly going this is a great way to relax and enjoy nature.

Room Tip: Get your reservation early if you want something larger than the studio size.

These little cottages have everything that you might need. Books on the park, flashlights, day packs for hiking, swim towels for the lakes - they were all available. On top of that, although on a few hundred square feet, the cottages have everything that you need. The kitchenettes are perfect for making breakfast before heading out for a long day of seeing the park. Additionally, the location is perfect. We preferred Southwest Harbor over Bar Harbor because it was not near as busy or commercialized. From the cottages you have several restaurants, shops, etc within a short walk. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. I can't say enough good things about Acadia Cottages, and we hope to be back in the future.

We loved our recent stay at Acadia Cottages. We stayed in Cottage 4 and it was perfect! The cottage was very clean, cozy, peaceful and quiet.

The property itself is very tidy and "green" oriented, which I loved!!! There's lots of great local info at the Acadia Cottage office. The staff is very friendly, helpful and made us feel right at home. Fresh baked homeade cookies were in our cottage when we arrived!

Wi-fi and TV w/ VCR (nice VHS library in office) were in our cottage, but if you're planning on a lot of sightseeing or hiking you won't need or want these amenities. Within easy walking distance of several shops and restaurants.

If you're looking to unplug and hear only the sound of frogs at night, or perhaps rain or thunder as we did during our stay, then this is the place for you!

My husband and I recently returned from a week in Acadia, and could not have been happier with our stay at Acadia Cottages.

Tom and Vicky made our stay extra special from start to finish- from the cookies in our cottage upon check-in, to printing maps for us when needed, suggesting hikes, trails, sightseeing, restaurants, and places to buy lobster. They even loaned us a lobster pot to cook our own DIY Maine dinner.

We stayed in a studio cottage, #4, which looks out over a little frog pond. It was just right for us- plenty of space for two people. We loved being able to make some of our own meals, and having a full-sized refrigerator was also great!

Acadia Cottages has a ton of extra perks that you only find with small, family run places like this. The office was filled with Maine travel guides, books, and literature that guests can borrow for their stay, trail maps and pamphlets for the whole island, plenty of movies you can borrow on a rainy day, a computer with internet access and printer if needed, and even umbrellas. We were also given keys for locked bike storage to keep our bikes for the week. Small charcoal grills are available to borrow if you like grilling.

We loved staying in Southwest Harbor, as it is the "quiet side" of MDI. Acadia Cottages was within walking or biking distance to plenty of restaurants and lobster pounds, and also to a bus stop for the free shuttle bus that can help you get to any point on the island if you don't feel like driving.

We would recommend this place to family and friends in a heartbeat, and hope we can make our way back some day soon!

Room Tip: We loved cabin #4 and have also heard great things about #11

We loved the studio cottage. It was so quaint and clean. Cottage 11 is the last one on the road so our large picture window faced out to the woods. Our hosts left cookies upon check in and we also appreciate all the environmentally friendly products used from cleaning to toiletries. We loved our stay in the woods of Maine.

My daughter and I planned a week in Maine and our first lodging was 3 nights at Acadia Cottages and we were quite delighted. Our 'cabin' was roomy with a small kitchen, large bathroom and comfortable bed. Even though we were a only a few feet from the main street we felt as if we were miles away. Quiet and beautiful in the woods though only a short walk into town. Our hosts greeted us upon arrival and filled us in on local places to visit as well as information about Acadia National Park. Wifi is available and the office has a good selection of VHS movies to borrow.

Room Tip: A variety of cabins are available so check the website for information.

We were truly pleased with our honeymoon stay at Acadia Cottages. The suite cabin was spacious and comfortable, and we appreciated the efforts to be eco-conscious (recycling bins, housekeeping services only on request). The TV was small, but adequate. The bed was very comfortable. We were promptly greeted and checked in when we arrived, and offered a library of resources and entertainment in the reception area. The location is wonderful...out of the way enough to feel authentically New England, but still just a 30-minute drive into Bar Harbor. I would recommend this place to anyone!
