My husband and I had our first vacation on MDI and we are so glad we picked the Kingsleigh Inn. The Inn is clean, maintained and attractive. The food is better than we have ever had at a bed and breakfast and certainly raises the bar for others. Presentation is amazing and it tastes as good as it looks. The hosts are friendly and hardworking. From the Inn it is only a few steps into town and a short walk to harbor views and a lobster pound. While it is on the main street, everything goes quiet at night and you can sleep with open windows if you like.

Our ONLY negative was the bed was a little too soft. We really sank into it. My husband took a pain killer before going to bed so as not to get a backache.

We would like to thank this guest for taking the time to share their experience and photos! Also, we would like very much to follow-up regarding the bed review.
We replaced all our mattresses prior to the 2011 season with Simmons Plushtop Beautyrest Firm mattresses and since they have been in service for just 2 six month seasons, we are anxious to find out which mattress might be failing.
We invite this guest to e-mail us at the Inn regarding the room in which they stayed - thanks very much for your assistance!

My husband Bruce and I love getting away to Mt,Desert Island. We enjoy staying @ the Kingsleigh Inn on the QUIET side of the island. The hospitality of the owners is outstanding! Pamela and Bryan know how to do it with such style. The location is ideal and a great view of the harbor. We enjoyed the private deck off of our room. The breakfast is truly a delight with great choices everyday. Bryan serves you the meal and should be a standup comedian with his great sense of humor! Pamela is even willing to share some of her great recipes if you ask her.We really liked the "Lobsta" eggs.Ourreturning trips will always include a stay @ the Kingleigh Inn!!!

What a joy - we started our Maine Coastal vacation at the Kingsleigh Inn and felt like we had arrived at home. A great property, amazing hosts, incredible food and bissful peace. From here you can explore Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor and more. Wind down each night with a glass of port and celebrate breakfast with a tasty dessert, yes dessert... Thanks Brian and Pamela - we will be back

Room Tip: Only saw our room which was on the ground floor - delughtful...

We stayed in the Turret Suite on the top floor for three nights. It is a really beautiful room, with a small outdoor deck and a small indoor reading room, both with nice harbor views. The owners were pleasant. Breakfasts were fine, but a bit boring after 3 days. I'd like to see more savory choices than just variations on a frittata.

Room Tip: Great views from Turret Suite, and tons of room!

From Jersey Village, Texas to Southwest Harbor, Maine our visit to the Kingsleigh Inn was a climatic and culinary trip to an enchanted New England paradise. Our stay at the Kingsleigh Inn was like a visit to a rich relative's weekend retreat and Brian & Pamela's hospitality was like a visit to a relative's home who could not do enough to entertain us. The spacious sitting rooms and the large dining room tables were inviting refuges for reading or work on my laptop. The attention to detail was amazing from the ivy & flower sconce in our room, to the amenities in the bath, to the elegant crystal carafe of port wine and chocolates in our bedroom, to the all day exquisite coffee service in the dining area, to the mystery breakfast juice for breakfast we were pampered. Pamela and Brian also provided concierge service in amenities like Kingsleigh Inn monogrammed walking sticks, to dining referrals for lobster indulgences at lobster pounds, to fine dining, to comfort food dining in Bar Harbor, to the not to miss touring of the Acadia National Park. The talent and professional expertise of the inn keepers Pamela & Brian was like that of a five star resort hotel. The beautiful and well maintained inn contributed to our comfort and relaxation. We are looking forward to and dreaming of a return get away to the Kingsleigh.Inn. As we look at the photos of our trip and try to replicate our stay at the Kingsleigh we are sipping Texas Port Wine here in Jersey Village on our back porch and trying to imagine the view of the harbor at Southwest Harbor, Maine. Joe & Cathy P.

If you're considering visiting Bar Harbor, think again. It can be chock full of tourists and touristy gimmicks --- unfortunately, cruise ships arrive there in high season. Southwest Harbor, on the other hand, is the laid back New England experience. Pamela and Brian, the inn keepers, do everything to make vacation enjoyable. When you arrrive, there are wine & snacks waiting before dinner. They're happy to recommend restaurants (including several good options in Southwest within a 2 minute walk). As a special treat, there are rich homemade chocolates and tawny port wine in your room for just before bed. Our bed was comfy (and if I remember correctly, one of the few places in the area with king-size beds). The best part is the morning.....There are the usual coffee, tea, and fresh pastries. Then there's the first course, oatmeal or fruit with yogurts. Next is your choice of two main entrees (lobster eggs, blueberry pancakes, quiche, etc). Finally, you're served dessert for your 3rd breakfast course. One day was homemade sorbet, another was a mini-banana sundae, and yet another was salted caramel fudge. This inn is perfect for someone who wants to relax and enjoy themselves....and did I mention the food?!? The island is great for short, but strenuous hikes, walks and eating lobster. If we return to visit the park, we'll stay here again!
