This a very short hike, as easy as it comes. It does get you out to the water where you can explore tidal pools and has nice views.

This is a nice easy trial on the quiet side. Looking forward to do it again in October. Not far from a nice picnic area.

Well here we are on Mt Desert Island for a weeks vacation. I'm 73 and suffering a pinched nerve in my back. My GF (60+) suffers from aging knees. We both have to laugh at the fact that we wanted to do a hike when perhaps we should be sitting in wheelchairs. But were vacationing in Bass Harbor and we wanted to do something not too strenuous. The Wonderland Trail was the perfect answer.

Perhaps the only difficult thing about hiking the Wonderland Trail is finding a parking spot in the limited spaces available. But for us on this day that was not a problem.

We heard down the trail and it was delightful. It was one of the finest walks in the woods I'd ever taken. The trail is relatively flat, a few roots here and there and not much in the way of boulders to walk over. There is a small incline and then a longer descent to the water. Upon reaching the ocean one has to pick and choose their footing but again it is all doable.

Overall the hike is a short one. Perhaps a mile a total. Easy as can be for those impaired like we were. I'm glad there was a place for us to enjoy an outing in the woods and the ocean. Try it....you'll like it.

Early level rail leading to a loop around the water's edge. Trail between parking and water is amongst trees. not the most scenic of other Trails on the island but a good trail to " warm up on" if you haven't been hiking recently

A friend and I came here yesterday and walked the trail. It was just the right length and easy for most. The scenery was nice, woodsy and a beach at the end!
