“An unexpected find.”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 via mobile

It's not often that I write a review but I really couldn't resist this time for all the right reasons.

Having decided to take a drive on Sunday and find somewhere for lunch, we stumbled across The Lazy Toad Inn. It instantly looked inviting with its wonderful Mediterranean feel exterior design and wonderful gardens.

The welcome was warm and asking for both of our names for the tab was a really nice personal touch.

The menu had a wonderful selection, with things for both myself and vegetarian partner.

The food was incredible, the service was amazing and I would certainly put the Lazy Toad at the top of my list for places to eat in and around Exeter.

“Dont miss this place”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Everything to like and nothing to dislike.
Great building, great food and great (local) beer.
Easy to find, easy to park but a quiet location in a lovely Devon village.

“Very nice place for a meal with friends”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We travel already over 30 yrs each year to Devon. Thanks to tripadvisor I found this place. Very rural but accessible via a good road. Large parking area, most inviting and friendly lay-out, both inside and outside. During nice weather it must be great to eat or have a drink outside and I can imagine how cosy it will be in winter with an open fire burning!
Food was good, fortunately not the standard (=huge) Devon portions!
They should invest in a coffeemachine to make 'proper' coffee like espresso etc. We 'continentals' like that better than the coffeepress they use...

“A good gastro-pub - dog friendly”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

i have eaten here quite a few times and the quality of the food has not yet failed to impress. true the portion size is modest and the prices slightly on the higher end of our budget - but the situation and proximity to a favourite circular walk (stoke cannon start and finish near the railway crossing) means that we return here. i normally drive and so enjoy soft drinks - the homemade cordials are excellent on a fine summers day. the staff are warm and friendly the atmosphere is relaxed - i hope to visit again soon.

“Good food, good wine, good service - pity about the name”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We went to this restaurant which is within easy driving distance from Exeter. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The food was of very high quality and the service was excellent. The name is unfortunate and may well put a few people off. It used to be called The Agricultural, which seemed a more fitting name for its position in the countryside. However, it is well worth a visit.
