“Neat place”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

We enjoyed this museum with our kids and found it a delightful surprise. Although a reproduction, it is a charming home and story as related by the docent. In fact I have been at Monticello a couple of times and enjoyed this spot more as it wasn't built into a regal place by slaves. Further Knox had better and more important revolutionary war contibutions than the dandy from Virginia without owning 100's of slaves. I also like the fact that the town went to a lot of effort to retrieve so many items for the home.

“A jewel in mid-coast Maine”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

The hour at Gen. Henry Knox's house, Montpelier, was very well spent indeed. Not only did we get a look at how a well-to-do American family lived on the edge of the wilderness of Maine at the end of the eighteenth century but, by learning the story of Henry Knox, we gained a good understanding of how the Revolutionary War played out.

“Very Informative”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting this historic home. The docents were extraordinarily informative. Loved being in the "round" room trying to figure out where the perfectly curved and matched-to- the-wall doors were. You will be glad you tookthe time to stop by!

“Excellent Tour & Knowledgable Guides”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

This was the perfect outing for a rainy day. Our first guide, a gentleman of 90 years young, was perfectly attired in period costume and knew so much about the General and his home, one could listen to him talk all day. The subsequently guide, a pleasant woman, picked up where the first guide left off and offered again further information and patiently answered any and all questions ask. A treasure that the state of Maine should be happy to have.

“Step Back in Time”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

We visited last year. The guide we had was great, he knew pretty much everything there was to know. The tour is cool~ I love history and I love to see actual items from those periods- The museum has done a great job of keeping things in place and properly taken care of and displayed. They do have a small gift shop. We enjoy ourselves~ the tour took about 45 minutes.
