An OK place. The free popcorn is a nice touch. Service not always the best.

Haven't been to this 99 for quite some time. It was nice to see the menu had changed. Stopped going for awhile as we were tired of the same ole choices. And, gping out to eat had become a luxury we couldn't afford too often. Not too hungry this night so I tried the Chicken Panini. It was surprisingly flavorful. They do have really good french fries! Server was friendly and quick. It was a bit noisy in the background with good music and lots of diners.

Topsham has a good thing going with this Ninety Nine Restaurant. We have visited there several times with family and friends and always found the perfect mix of comfortable and inviting surroundings, gracious and friendly servers and well-prepared comfort food. Most recently Dawn was our server. With ten years of service in this restaurant, she was the epitome of professionalism, attention to detail and genuine warmth. Our family ordered the $9.99 meals with the $3.00 soup or salad and dessert special. My husband and I had some porter beer that was amazingly good. (can't remember the exact name). As is customary at the Ninety Nine, you start out with small bowls of popcorn - a fun start to a relaxing meal.
Our salads were served on a small platter and consisted primarily of chilled fresh romaine lettuce with freshly shaved cheese on top. I ordered the Chicken Marsala with baked potato and broccoli as my sides rather than pasta. The two unbreaded chicken breast portions had a very tasty, but light marsala sauce with mushrooms. The baked potato was piping hot (my husband loved it!) and the broccoli florets were fresh and green. I would have liked a little more marsala sauce, but I didn't bother to ask and the chicken was tasty without extra sauce. I am sure that it wouldn't have been a problem. My husband ordered the 7 oz. sirloin steak with the same sides. His steak was plain and simple, but flavorful. Our daughter ordered a shrimp with pasta dish for $9.99. The shrimp were breaded. She didn't eat very much of it, but she didn't have any complaints. Her friends ordered strawberry lemonade (free refills) and a plate of nachos.
At the same time our son and his friend shared a brownie with vanilla ice cream for $5.49 that was absolute perfection in a dessert. It was served in a large, hand-blown glass-looking martini-shaped glass with a red rim and it was truly divine. We ordered the small desserts that come with the $3 special. The chocolate cake bites were small, but flavorful. They could have had a little more chocolate sauce or a bit richer chocolate taste. The atmosphere of the place is very family-oriented and pub-like with a comfortable level of noise and music. It is the perfect place for celebrating a birthday with family and friends - like celebrating in your own home, but without all the dishes and food prep. Our party of eight sat at two side-by-side booths. It worked out really well. All in all, it was a very nice birthday celebration for my husband. The wait staff came out and sang "Happy Birthday!" and served him his dessert with a birthday candle. We took home our leftovers and our daughter and friends ate the rest of the nachos that night and we enjoyed lunch the next day. Many of the restaurants in the Brunswick and Topsham area are a little over-priced for a family on a budget. The Ninety Nine in Topsham is a great choice for a memorable and fun evening.
I am already looking forward to enjoying my birthday there.
