Description: Great food, prepared and served well. That's what eating out should be about and it is what you will find at The Inn at Lathones. The Inn at Lathones has always had a superb reputation for its food and over the years has won and retained many awards for its cuisine but you can be assured we understand that eating out is not about awards. Guests can choose to dine in the cosy atmosphere of the bar and lounge area, maybe even sitting in front of the log burning stove or reserve a table in the restaurant. Our food is served in an informal manner - we are an old coaching inn after all - and offers great value for money throughout the day from breakfast, through lunch, afternoon teas, bar suppers and dinner. Executive Chef Chris Wright uses only the freshest local produce in his menus that change with the season.

“Without the gig”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

We were a little underwhelmed, I'm afraid to say. Not that anything was particularly wrong, it simply lacked anything special. The Inn at Lathones is a very attractively constructed small hotel (a converted steading, by all appearances), and is a popular music venue. I'm lead to believe that gig-nights are very atmospheric, and it is perhaps this we were missing.

The menu was attractive, and the food was the expected quality for the price. The lamb dish we had was cooked just as we like. And the desserts were prepared very well.

Unfortunately the wine list was rather sparse, a large number of attractive wines listed but not available on the night - the waitress explained that this was because the cellar was being restocked.

All in all an average experience for us....

“Above average dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Dinner here is a pleasant experience. An over familiar and insincere welcome disappointed. "Young man" displayed either at best lack of judgement or sarcasm. The order and drinks were produced slowly but there was nothing wrong with the excellent black pudding starter or the fifth and chips or steak. Service in the dining room at an acceptable standard. Reasonable prices good dine list.

“Delightful evening meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

From the greeting the moment we walked in to the farewell, the evening was delightful. We were seated beside a blazing log fire ( needed after a cool walk along Largo Bay) sipping a house red while browsing the menu.
With a choice of about 6 starters and 8 mains, we took our time and it was worth it. I had trout tartare with caviar and orange confit and the Boss had grilled Stornoway black pudding with a poached egg on top covered in Hollandaise sauce and it looked lovely. We both went for the battered haddock with chips and tartare sauce and the portions were enormous and delicious. I was forced to help her with her fish.
With no room for desserts, and a ceilidh to go to, we had coffees to finish.

“Friendly welcome and nice room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

We had a one night stay in this inn.
Friendly and helpful staff.

The rooms are in a sort of small patio. Room was nice and had a spacious bed.

The attached pub is small and cosy. The little woodstove was burning.

Diner was not that special, the fisherman's pie was plain and missed some taste.

We had a perfect stay and would recommend the inn to anyone.

Free parking at the inn own parking lot.
