“Family fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2012

We just returned from our second annual stay Papoose Pond. We reserved a tent site there last year after Hurricane Irene, and had an amazingly fun time with the kids (now ages 3 and 7), so we decided to reserve the same site again for this year. Check in was a breeze, and we arrived to our spacious site that had been raked and cleaned from the previous campers.

Since it was the holiday week there were plenty of activities scheduled for the kids, and for families. Some of them were kiddie soccer, volleyball, kickball, capture the flag, tie-dye t-shirts and more. There are a wide variety of campsites available as well, so if you are into tenting, cabins or RVs, there is most likely something that will suit you.

The staff is very helpful and friendly, and there is security during night hours to keep the extremely loud campers and those misbehaving in check.

We had a blast at this campground. We rented the sites that have an overhang, outdoor stove and kitchen area with a full bathroom n shower attached. It was great to keep the mess outside the camper for a change! Nice selection of activities, a heated pool and water sports (non~motorized) galore. Staff was friendly and always went the extra mile for you. We are already booked for next year!!!
Ohhh...Be sure to bring your citronella candlea and your bug spray..to keep the flies n skeeters at bay.
We camped in a travel trailer.

Another great week at the 'poose. The kids spent most of the week in the pond, but there are other great activities for the kids, as well. This is a great place for families of all ages. We hate to see the week end and look forward to returning next season

We just returned from a week at Papoose Pond with our 14 year old daughter. We wouldn't have stayed the whole week but we were too lazy to pack up to move and we had other things to do in the area. On the plus side, Papoose offers huge, pretty wooded sites which is the main thing to us. On the downside, we were in site 33 which is right next to the very busy road that the campground is located on. Tractor trailers going by in the morning sounded like freight trains through your living room. If you are going to camp here, and I suggest doing so only if you have young children as everything is geared to them, then definitely pick a campsite as far from the road as you can get. There is a lot of noise in the campground from all of the kids as well as the carousel which isn't too annoying, but the place feels quite commercialized. The pond is that, a pond, so if you're expecting a lake it isn't really that. We had our kayaks and paddled around the perimeter of it in a short time. Bathrooms were clean, showers were great and so were the staff for the most part. Make sure you take bikes for the kids at least as everything is quite spread out. If it were not for the 30% off special they had for the week we were there, we certainly would not have paid the regular price to stay but it was okay.

From my initial phone call to the young man at the mini-golf area to the carousel operator, everyone was warm and welcoming. The campfire sing-a-long was well loved and my kids were heard singing the songs on the way home. For .75 cents a ride on the carousel, my six-year old deemed this her "campground dream come true!" Should you have the opportunity to visit by tent, I would encourage you to consider the second half of the campground as the sites are much more spacious and private! Oh! The other thing that impressed me? The staff always seemed to be cleaning the restrooms.

We have been going to papoose pond for a number of years it's a great place for a family with young children. My son loves going and looks forward to it, but my older children have become bored. I also found the attmosphere a little more pleasant this year perhaps it was the change in management?? It's nice to see the same returning families every year. It's kept clean and the accomadation options are numerous and fit many differant budgets.

We just returned from our eighth trip up to Papoose Pond. Everyone had a great time. We started coming here based on a recommendation from a neighbor about ten years ago-she had been going here for years and loved it... At first we stayed on a campsite in a pop up trailer, but we now stay in a cottage right on the beach-we stay in Lakeview, which is a four bedroom which sleeps eight comfortably. My sister and her family also come up now the same week, and they stay in a camper-lodge site. There is a campsite for every preference...they have completely rustic tent sites, tent sites with water and electr., tent sites with kitchen shelters, tent sites with kitchen shelters and bathroom, rv sites, rustic cabins with and without baths, campers, and cottages. This campground has something to offer everyone. There are activities of all kinds which start at 8 am and last one generally starts at 7:30 pm. Here is a small sampling; sports activities(soccer, volleyball, around the world, etc), tournaments(ping-pong, bocce, horseshoes, pool, shuffleboard, etc), canoe trips down the crooked river, hikes to pulpit rock, crafts, water aerobics, build a critter(stuffed animal), family relay races, sand castle contest(we've won four years in a row!!), beach party (with barbecue, raffles, boat races, limbo contest, hula hoop contest, strong man contest, DJ, prizes), movie nights, campfire sing along, dance party, build your own sundaes, teen dances, candy bar bingo, adult bingo, and it goes on and on! New this year was a live owl show which we all enjoyed. The activity counselors are great with the kids. We enjoy swimming in the pond, which we find very clean and safe. No motorized boats!! The kids love jumping from the two rafts. The water level is always changing as it is constantly refreshed from underground springs, and the water drains to the Crooked River. Fresh water mussels are in an abundance:a sign of very clean water. For those who don't like pond swimming, there is a pool available. There are three playgrounds available for the kids, a carousel, a rec hall with arcade, another small arcade, canoe/kayak/bike rentals, a camp store, small restaurant, and a snack shack. Security was noted at night, kept the teens in check... This is the only private campground that has let us stay up until midnight by our campfire-as long as you are quiet so as not to disturb others. Others we have been to have made us extinguish our fire by 10... This campground is perfect for families with children of every age...Everyone leaves happy!! The management is wonderful...any time we have ever had an issue with anything in the past, they have sent someone out to fix it and make it right within 30 minutes tops...Every year we have made a few suggestions to the management on how to improve certain things, or make things even more enjoyable-and every year they have listened to our suggestions, as the changes were in place the following year!!
