Gregoire's is a well established campground now run by wife of the former owners. Becky is now the sole owner and is coming into her second season as the owner with a very dependable and dedicated staff. They are all very enthuastic, curtious, friendly as well as very helpful. The campground does have regular scheduled activities at least once a month if not more, like a yard sale, pancake breakfast, strawberry shortcake, etc. It's the type of place where you can be as involved as you want. There is some noise from the highway as there is at most of the local campgrounds but to a lesser degree from 12:00 on. The grounds are checked for noise and whatever several times each evening and any reported disturbances are investigated usually right away. There is a area designated for children with a swing and place to run and play. Nothing fancy but most people are at the beaches during the day. Traffic is regulated and no motorcycles are allowed beyond the office cutting down on traffic and noise. Many people ride bikes and walk in the campgrounds. A trolley comes to the office area several times during the day (schedule available) and at night for a small fee taking you to the beach and area places downtown and I believe to Walmart and Lowes. Staff is good about helping you get proper information. They also are good about sharing places that are good eats and dollar values in the area. I recommend you give Gregoires a try and judge for yourself. We started by coming a few weekend during the summer, than a month and now we are retired and spend as much time as we can from mid May to mid October, called "seasonal campers." Remember, it is what you let it become, enjoy and it will be enjoyable. Be a good neighbor and your neighbors will usually reciprocate. Highly recommended!!! Barb, Rich and Holly

I have read the past reveiws. Only to find all that mentioned is UNTRUE.I have been coming here for three years and will continue for many more. It is very clean and everyone is friendly! The bathrooms all have paper towel dispenser. Alex is their Maintenance guy he is great! Need anything call on Alex. Rose she's a hoot in the office never a dull moment with her around very friendly. Becky well she is the proud new owner she took over the campground this past January always smiling and she is always there to help you. they have a few other workers but they help me as we'll they all are great! They have a shuttle to the beach for a dollar then brings you back so there is no fussing for parking let alone a ticket, which I have gotten a few. So with all that being said go there to Gregoires Campground in Wells Maine!

I would not recommend this campground. It’s proximity with the 95 and the railway makes the place quite noisy: it’s tolerable during the day but quite unpleasant during the night. The bath room could definitely offer much more, soap and hand paper for instance (The shower cost 50¢ for 4 min...). Finally, our tent was covered by ants (which was maybe just related to our specific site on the campground) and the soil wasn’t good for absorbing water when rain came. This only advantage we see (for some) is that pets are allowed on the site.

we stayed at Gregoire's while we were road tripping around the northeast US. rolled into the Wells, Maine area late at night (around 9-10pm) and didn't have any place to stay, but found a phone book and started calling around. Gregoire's was the only place (out of probably 5 or 6 I tried) to answer that late and had vacancy. the manager said that by the time we'd arrive they would already be asleep, but they assigned us a spot and let us pull in when we got there, and trusted us to pay in the morning.

the showers were basic but adequate, fed by quarters, had hot water. i would certainly consider it again if i'm up for the camping. since it is a campground, definitely not for those who don't enjoy "roughing it" a bit.
