After we paid we were told the pool was closed, they are vacuuming it. Umm... It was green. Entered the room and the closed up mildew smell was overwhelming. Furniture old and worn out, bed was saggy and beyond uncomfortable. There were two smoke detectors on a shelf without batteries and no operating smoke detector at all. Bathroom fixtures were also tired and worn out, towels beyond tired and worn out. Please note I am not a super fussy person, we did spend one night, but at $99 plus tax it was not worth that price at all. Luckily we did not have neighbors on either side because I think the walls were super duper thin and we could've heard each other's inner thoughts.

We booked a cabin through booking.com and when we walked through the door we knew were ripped off. The "cottage" we rented (unit 14) was nothing like the photos online. The room was extremely small, maybe 10x10 and very dirty. There was a full size bed with a small table, small fridge and microwave. A door leading out to the 'porch' was blocked by a chair. The porch had 3 VERY dirty plastic chairs and a broken small table. The screens were all ripped. The porch was about 5 feet by 4 feet wide. After spending time trying to clean the room, porch and chairs we decided to give up. There was no way we could sleep there. We were there less than 30 minutes. We went to the office and handed back our key. The manager was not willing to refund our money. He offered another room but once you see this place and the condiion of the property you would not stay here. We demanded our money back with no success. We will work with our credit card company to get a refund.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISGUSTING PLACE.

Room Tip: BEWARE - very dirty.

We stayed there in October for one night and paid with debit card. 7 months later they charged our card again! And then would not refund us and were beyond rude. He claimed to have lost and then randomly found a slip while "spring cleaning". But never called to ask if we had been charged our even let us know ahead of time. I would never go back or trust them.

We booked this motel at the last minute and we had a pretty good deal on it so it was not a total loss...

The tenant was extremely friendly and welcoming, the motel have a pool (that was not open because it was October) they also offer bbq facility to cook. They also have free wi-fi. and cable tv.

The room was ok... I mean it was not dirty from the previous travelers but it could use a fresh coat of paint, a new carpet or something like that because it seem no improvements were done since the 80'. The gap around the door should be closed to improve on energy efficiency and spiders.

The motel offer a great location if you want to be near the Rachel Carson wildlife reserve or a walk away from the antique shops. But if you want to go to the beach expect a short drive (or a long one since the US-1 could be a bit crowded in season). The nearest grocery store is also quite far.(On that note make sure the fridge is working properly... we lost food assuming it was)

If you have a light sleep make sure you bring some earplugs because at night truck an train passing by can make it hard to sleep.

So overhall if you are not picky and the only thing you want is a roof over your head and you have a great deal on this motel, go for it ! Otherwise think twice about it... a small amout of $ could make a lot of difference.

For a leaf-peeping weekend, this was apparently a good bargain. It turns out that it was not. Room not ready at check-in time; room was dirty and needed vacuuming, tub and shower curtain were moldy, room was never made up while I was there, at one point I even hung the "clean room" tag on the door and all that was done was my waste baskets were emptied. Three groups were to get three adjoining rooms - ended up scattered throughout the facility - actually, one couple was so distressed that they chose to leave and find other accommodations. Management, reluctantly, agreed to reduce the cost of the rooms but I cannot locate a charge or refund on my credit card bill. On checkout, I was not offered a receipt [and, I was so distracted that I didn't ask]. I would strongly urge that travelers think twice before patronizing this motel.

Clean tidy no frills motel, in need of some upgrading. Separate cabins means less adjacent noise, but the close location to the railway line did bring the associated noise. Good value. great wildlife.

Room Tip: Cabins have an insect proof outside area.

We quickly booked @ Tallwood on an extremely busy summer weekend & got the very last room. The room was clean & supplied with a dorm fridge & microwave. The sheets didn't really fit so well but he mattress was comfortable. The shower water was nice & hot. The pool is centrally located very close to all the room's doors. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance. The Bull & Claw for lunch/dinner is across the street & Maine Diner for breakfast right next door. I would definitely stay again.
