“Excellent chowder, great location overlooking marsh”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2014

We arrived about 7:00 pm on a Friday evening in August, the parking lot was full but they have complementary valet parking. Our party of two did not have reservations but were seated after a short 10 mt wait. Food, including desert exceeded expectations - the Maine style chowder is to die for and waitress was correct in suggesting that the Apple Crisp was big enough to be shared. Dinner for 2 with the shared desert cost about $50 (tip extra).

“Good food, good value”

This is a very popular place to eat in Wells. We went this time a bit past the normal lunch hour, so there were plenty of places to sit. We sat in the bar area right next to the window, which was great. My wife absolutely loved the fried clams (and I did, too, but she wouldn't let me have too many!). The clam chowder wasn't as thick as I'd like, but it was well seasoned, and you could tell it was home made - quite good. The rest of the meal was well prepared, and there was plenty of food. And the dessert - we shared their special blueberry dessert, and it was wonderful. We'd go back again and again.

“Busy place, great service and food.”

Billy's was packed when we arrived, so we needed valet parking. We were seated right away and Gail brought us Billy's Rum Punch and we ordered the mussells for an appetizer. They were delish. I wanted to drink the white wine sauce. My husband ordered the half and half with haddock and fried clams. I had the salad with grilled salmon and house made honey dill dressing. We were full to the brim and happy with Gail's sense of humour and great service. We would definitely go back.

“Exceeded expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

Stopped in without checking any reviews for a weekend lunch and it was a pleasant surprise. Reasonably priced lobster luncheon and lobster roll, baked fish sandwich was generous and well-prepared. Waitstaff was very friendly and helpful and the view of a storm coming in through the windows was an unexpected plus. We would come back again.

“First time back in 10 years. Will be back next year. ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

We have been vacationing in Wells Beach for the past 20 years and avoided this place for the past 10 years or so....for no particular reason.

Wanting something "new" we haven't tried in a while, we stopped by this "other" Billy's (vs the more well known Billy's in Perkins Cove)
I must admit, we went in with low expectations, but we left very impressed.

The chowders, both fish and clam, were quite excellent. It's not the thick, clam juice-ish type you get at Legal Seafood, but a brothy, creamy soup was refreshing. The rest of the dinner (steamed lobster) was reasonable, if not watery. The service was friendly and efficient.

The only direct comparison vs the Billy's in Ogunquit I can make is the rum punch--No comparison. Billy's in Ogunquit wins by a mile.
