My husband and I stayed at this hotel on the 27th September 2013. We had booked the accommodation in February when planning our 3 week stay in New England. By the time the holiday came around we were wondering why we had chosen to stay at Wilton. Until we turned into the drive of the Wilson Lake Inn, that is. What a lovely spot! The petunias and other container plants decorating the front of the building were a delight, and I loved the model of the Loon in the grounds. Not to mention the garden at the back and the lake at the bottom of the garden.

We had booked a second floor room with 2 queen beds which came with fridge. There was also a table and 2 chairs at the window overlooking the gardens, which was useful for having breakfast on. There was no coffee maker or hairdryer in the room – we wanted the first, but we didn’t require the second. Hence we asked for a coffee maker at reception and was given one straight away at no extra cost. We had done our homework on Trip Adviser regarding somewhere to eat that night, and the lady at reception booked a table for us at “Calzolaio’s”. It was indeed a good job we booked as this popular restaurant was full when we arrived. We can understand why too, as the food was some of the tastiest I have had. The person who checked us out of the Wilson Lake Inn the following morning was particularly friendly, and I love the postcards of her photos that she gave us.

My only criticism of the room is that the plumbing was a bit noisy, and there was some inter-room noise around midnight as people arrived back, so sound insulation between rooms could be better. However, one bonus of lying awake for a while after the noise had died down, was being able to listen to a Loon calling on the lake! Amazing!

The light continental breakfast the following morning of juice, cereal, fruit, yoghurt and muffins which we took back to our room to eat, went down well. We did take the time to drive the lake road into the village of Wilton, before continuing on our travels and were rewarded with some more very beautiful views across Wilson Lake.

For us this was only a one night stop-over, but I would recommend it, not only for such but also for
those with more time to spare who could take advantage of its beautiful position, sit in the gardens or by the lake, make use of the kayak or hike, to explore the area more.

Staff very friendly. Beautiful setting. Were there just for one night, next time we'll plan for a longer stay. Found it by chance & we are very glad we found it. Staff recommended a very good italian restaurant in town. Very quaint small town.

This must be the best value lodging in the state of Maine. Good large room which is spotlessly clean, well-equipped and well-furnished. Very friendly welcome and helpful advice from the owner on arrival. A delightful garden running down to the lake where they have canoes and kayaks. Positioned just off the main road but with no traffic noise, what more could you want and need for the price?

The Wilson Lake Inn is, without a doubt, the cleanest most comfortable hotel/motel I have ever stayed in. The proprietors, Tom & Sue, go way out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. They gave us many tips as to where to go and we saw both Angel Falls and Rangeley Lake. To see the falls we had to hike into the woods for about a half an hour but the trail was plainly marked as Tom said it would be. We are looking forward to returning there in a few months and seeing more. The nice thing about going right after Columbus Day was that the leaf peepers were already gone yet the foliage was still in full bloom!
