My son and his girlfriend ate here and really enjoyed it. Convenient before or after a trip to Schoodic.

First went to Gerrish for lunch and then for ice cream the next day. We got two sandwiches that were good and very reasonably priced, cheaper then back at home in CT. We learned place had reopened under new management this summer, all new and spiffy inside. However it was obvious that the owners were still cutting their restaurant teeth. We were waited on by no less then four different people in a haphazard frenetic foray. The job got done but it sort of wrecks the experience with assorted staff coming to the table over and over. Its easy guys, one waitress per table, one busser, one person on the register, and enough extra people to handle the ice cream rushes. Oh and the boss needs to learn to train and then trust the staff. Will go back but just might check to make sure there isn't a big crowd.

In past years we have had excellent ice cream at J.M. Gerrish and this year we had some wonderful sandwiches. There are lots of choices and they can be ordered to go as well as the table service. There aren't many lunch options in Winter Harbor, but even if there were, this is a great place with helpful staff and reasonable prices.

I was so happy to see that the restaurant had reopened in 2014. It's a great spot for breakfast, lunch or ice cream. The food and service are both good. The prices are reasonable. The outside dining along Main Street is enjoyable when the weather is nice. Several galleries, shops and the town wharf are all within walking distance. Be forewarned, they only serve breakfast and lunch 7 a.m.- 2 p.m. After that, it's just ice cream until early evening. I wish they would stay open a bit later in the evening and serve a simple dinner option, but, I understand the idea of doing less but doing it well. That's what they're doing. Nice job. We're so glad you're there!

We (my husband and I) were about to drive through the Schoodic parkway (part of Acadia National Park) and stopped to pick up takeout sandwiches from J.M. Gerrish in Winter Harbor, Maine. The menu was varied with lots of sandwich options and pizzas. My husband ordered a tuna salad wrap and I ordered an egg salad sandwich. They came with a dill pickle and chips. We asked for ours to go and they came in boxed containers which made them easy to transport in the car. We drove into the park and found a place on the rocks across from the lighthouse and had a picnic lunch. Both sandwiches were delicious and of ample size. Just what we were looking for. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quick stop to pick up picnic foods. I should note that it is possible to eat inside the restaurant or on the front porch as well. And, there were a number of fresh baked goodies available .
