“Comfort food with a great view.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014

Sometimes you just want to have comfort food done well at reasonable prices. Our experience at Le Garage came through with a delicious Pot Roast meal. Plus, our table next to their large glass windows overlooking the water made our dinner quite pleasant.

“Updated review Not for the better!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2013

We have eaten at this restaurant for three years on a regular basis. This whole year we have tried to enjoy our visits, but leave thinking we shouldn't come back. Either their food source is not good or the chef/cook. Service is over the top nice, great salad enjoy the rolls but it stops there. We have tried many dishes and the problems abound. The lamb kabobs have been almost a weekly issue. Cooking the veg's once not even cooked others way underdone. Lamb meat was good once and the rest have been so tough. Other dishes fair to so-so. Real sorry to post, but the lovely people can only go so far. Even the owner is great!

“I had higher expectations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013

Beautiful view, but the food didn't match it. Greasy crabcakes lacking in crabmeat and paella made with 1 piece of lobster meat and very fishy mussels. We were the only people in the restaurant, and the waitress was more interested in setting up for the dinner crowd than taking care of us. Won't return.

“Back of the house/Front of the House”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

Like so many sole proprietor Maine restaurants, someone with back of the house talent doesn't really know how to run the front of the house. No one greeted us when we walked in 'til one of the wait staff awkwardly directed us to a table. Another server eventually came over and offered no hello or welcome, just clumsily asked what we would like to drink. Foodies like to sneer at the fast casual restaurants (ex: Applebee's), but you are always thoughtfully greeted and seated at such places. It is part of being gracious, and that consistency is really lost on so many mid coast Maine restaurants. The menu is interesting, incorporating current themes of locally sourced food and (notably) game. We had mussels in a creamy broth, crab cakes, and trout. All nicely done, but nothing that would really drive me to return anytime soon.

“Still Very Much Worth the Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

We have been coming here for at least 15 years and always enjoy it. It seems to be very popular with local clients as well as the tourists and especially seems to be a nice place for those special occasions. The food is always very good and at times is even excellent. I have always loved the Newburg and every time I visit must have the Bird's Nest dessert with Creme de Mint. The view is outstanding and the atmosphere takes you out of the busy atmosphere in more crowded places such as Boothbay. To simply put it, it is just a really nice restaurant.
