“Best place to stay in southern Maine”

The Inn and it´s inkeepers are wonderful. The house was nicely furnished and decorated, the backyard and the porch invited to relax and within walking distance you had the beach and nice restaurants (we recommend the Lobster Cove for Lobster).
Andy and Su were great host and had wonderful recommendations for restaurants and were drawing maps which was the best way to drive to the interesting spots in York Harbor and surrounding areas.
We were staying in the York Harbor Suite; very spacious and very romatic.
Breakfast was delicious and homemade, there was everyday a different warm dish and bagels, fresh fruit, cereals. If you left the breakfast table hungry it was your own fault. Having breakfast on the porch overlooking the garden is the perfect way to start the day.
We sure will be back sometime.

This was by far the best accommodation in our 4-day trip from Gloucester up the coast. This is a real jewel! The innkeepers could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Breakfast was divine and the surroundings were exquisite. Many nice restaurants nearby and Andy was more than willing to recommend the best choices. We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Unit #6 has a private balcony/porch.

We've been to York many times and enjoyed this trip the most. Andy and Su provided great suggestions on things to do e.g. The Cliff Walk (amazing!), a mountain climb and shopping in nearby Portsmouth. The Inn is close to the beach, the room was spacious as was the bathroom and the breakfast was delicious. We especially enjoyed the homey touch that Pippen (their little, wonderful dog) brought the the place. I loved that dog!! They have free wifi which was a great bonus. We'll definitely stay here again the next time we're in town.

This was our first time in York and the Inn at Tanglewood Hall was all that we couild imagine. We arrived early evening with the sun shining through the trees - beautiful and tranquil setting. We had the billiard room and the fizzy wine and truffles were waiting for us. Our hosts were excellent and provided lots of useful information. We would recommend the cliff walk. Breakfasts were a treat - Sue made some fantastic savories. Coming from the UK we were keen to sample Maine lobsters and Andy recommended a good restaurant which was also quite cheap! Two lobsters with corn etc., was only $19.50. Having only booked for two nights we were sad to leave and wished that it could have been longer. If you are going to York - try this Inn.

The Inn at Tanglewood was not our first experience with a bed and breakfast. I am usually a "hotel" kind of person, as is my husband but after Tanglewood was recommended to us by a friend, I decided to give it a try. I am so very glad I did. I would go back in a heartbeat and it can not be soon enough. Sue and Andy, the innkeepers, are accomodating, knowledgable of the area, welcoming and fantastic cooks! Breakfast was 100% homemade. It was clear they took the extra time to put those special touches on everything! The house itself is beautiful. Although in a neighborhood setting, it is secluded just enough and central to so much Maine has to offer. The restaurants recommended did not let us down nor did the attractions. Thank you Sue and Andy for a wonderful official getaway!!!!!

Room Tip: The Billiard room is quaint and I would stay there again. We were able to see other rooms while we w...

The house is lovely .. We were surprised it was in a 'neighborhood' setting because it looked so secluded in the photos. Each room is set up differently adapting to the unusual architecture of accommodating guest rooms in an old house. Our room had a large bathroom. We loved the house and the hosts were great, with suggestions for things to do in the area. We were disappointed that the breakfasts did not contain enough choices (limited protein) or that there was nothing made-to-order, instead a main casserole-type dish and limited sides - not friendly to people who try to stay away from carbs/sugar laden goods. Even so, the stay was enjoyable.

Our B&B is located on a peaceful oasis of an acre and a quarter of woodlands and gardens along scenic Coastal Route 1A, amidst neighboring estates and homes that have stood serenely by the sea for over a century, thus a tranquil illusion of seclusion.

Like other B&Bs without the facilities of a restaurant kitchen, we serve a fresh homemade creatively inspired entree daily, that alternates between savory and sweet. Both types of dishes are significantly protein-packed with eggs and milk, oft with cheeses. We've heeded the feedback of a previous reviewer and since last October, now include a meat side-dish with all of our sweeter entrees no matter the season, and when appropriate, with savories. We never duplicate our entrees, even if folks are staying here for a week. Our buffet-style service offers a great variety: there is always endless yogurt and a fresh-cut fruit bowl available (along with homemade granola, cereal, breads, bagels, muffins for those not averse). As noted by other delighted reviewers and in our confirmation letter, we are happy to cook to order for anyone who informs us of their dietary restrictions or needs. In fact, we just had a couple here from Ontario who requested a no-carb diet and we made them a special entree each of the five days that they were here. Simply let us know and we'll do our best to oblige!

We visited York in July and had the best experience at the Inn at Tanglewood Hall! Su and Andy are the most gracious hosts, the food was excellent, and the Inn is just so quaint! Walking distance to beaches and restaurants too! Great time! Lon & Samantha
