“Love YHI, Disappointed in Chapman Cottage”

My husband and I stayed at the York Harbor Inn for a few days in August. We've been there before and love the Inn, the pub and the restaurant. We thought we'd try the Chapman Cottage since it was new. Very disappointed. The Inn had advertised half price happy hour drinks and complimentary snacks at Chapman Cottage. there was no mention of either once we arrived. We were told we could only sit on one side of the porch if we were just ordering drinks. Of course the side we were allowed to sit on was directly in the sun on a very hot day. We ended up ordering food just so we could move under an umbrella. (There was only one other couple there at the same time as us so it's not like space was limited.) The food was good, but they offered only "small plates" so I would not come here for dinner. Drinks were also good but very expensive. Overall, not a great experience and I don't think we will return.

We are longtime fans of the York Harbor Inn - especially the Cellar Pub. This is a relatively new addition to the YHI, but we were very disappointed in our first experience. Stopped in to the bar for a happy hour beverage - but you had to sit outside (very hot and humid) to get the 1/2 price special drinks. Little to no A/C in the bar either. Realize we didn't experience their food at all, but not sure we'll return to try it, either.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is very good and the atmosphere is relaxIng and "neat.". We thought the service was great and couldn't get over the complimentary crab dip during happy hour.

We stayed at the Chapman House two nights, and ate there both nights. The entire place was immaculate, even the kitchen which is where Paul, the owner makes the most delicious dinners and breakfasts imaginable. We have eaten at many inns and the food here is not only generous in portion, but of the finest quality. We have already told our friends that they must go, if they're in the area.
