Great selection of beers and ales at the long bar. The sandwiches and plates were tasty and fresh. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was done just right.

Great food and wonderful staff with good beer selection. Known for bar food but don't be afraid to venture to entire menu. Highly recommend live band on Friday night and Sunday afternoon (outside).

The wheelchair access is a little awkward but once you are in this has the best pub food in town. My favorite is the grilled tuna wrap. Very good steak and seafood egg rolls, great cheese steaks. Lots of draft beers and drinks. Very comfortable atmosphere.

Burgers & Wings were very good. Overall experience and service was what you expect from a pub. Not a good sports watching bar but great for a weekend lunch with drinks.

It's very hard to find a good cheesesteak outside of the Philly area. Well, Magerk's does a great cheesesteak. For some reason, most places that are not in the Philly area think that Philly cheesesteaks have lettuce, tomato, and mayo, etc. on them. Nope. A traditional Philly cheesesteak has shaved ribeye, cheese (usually Cheese Whiz, or White American, or Provolone), and fried (grilled) onions. That's it! Do not use lettuce, tomato, or mayo! Just don't! It's a violation of the laws of nature for a true cheesesteak!

Magerk's gets this concept, and they do a great job with it. To get a traditional Philly, order a "9th & Passyunk". That address happens to be the location of the original Cheesesteak joint in Philly, "Pat's King of Steaks". The "9th & Passyunk" has shaved ribeye, cheese whiz, and fried (grilled) onions. I know what you're thinking ... Cheese whiz? Seriously? Yup! Cheese Whiz! It sounds weird, but somehow it works. It's a South Philly tradition, and believe it or not, Cheese Whiz has been around for over 60 years now. If you must, get white American or provolone, but please don't embarrass yourself by getting a cheesesteak with lettuce, tomato, ... or even worse, .. mayo. Eeewwwe! You will instantly identify yourself as a novice!

Another great item at Magerk's is their "Hot Tavern Ham and Cheese" served on a pretzel roll. The ham is sliced, grilled, and layered with cheese. The pretzel roll makes all the difference. Delicious!

For soup, their best choice is the tasty "Tomato Bisque Au Gratin". I'm generally not a fan of bisques, but this one is darn good! It is a creamy tomato filled with hearty chucks of tomato, and lots of bread chunks, ... and it is all topped with a layer of provolone, and served in a hot crock.

If Trip Advisor allowed a more precise rating system than whole numbers, I would give Magerk's a 4.3 out of 5. ... Better than a 4, but not quite a 5, either.

Enjoy!
