This was our first time at the Bestesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club. We were not sure what to expect and what we found was a marvelous music venue and surprisingly good food. Combining them both in a lovely setting was a great idea. This will be our go to place for an evening out that is easy, delicious, and provides us with a great dose of music. This is not a rock and roll venue, although, they have had rock and roll, it is everything from serious jazz, to country, to memory lane rock. The place is beautiful, large and accomodating. The wait staff did everything to make sure your meal and service was top notch. We simply loved it and look forward to going back. We had coconut shrimp that everyone thought was terrific, as other reviewers have said. I had a beet salad, I loved, my husband had a strawberry salad, too much dressing, next time on the side. The food was good, but the reason I will go back is the music, the ambience and the overall experience. In regard to price, the food is with the range of normal nice restaurant. No burgers......it is a supper club after all. Gourmet? Nope, but the combination of music and dinner and drinks in a great place has major value.

This is a great venue for music. It also hosts private events. Seating is much better if have dinner. The odd thing was that I went to a great show with a few friends. We were the only patrons (other than those associated with the band) in the entire place. It was like having a private show. The service was also nice. Food was good, but a little salty. The personal show was great for us, but this place needs more support. I'm planning to go back again.

We've enjoyed the musicians who play at the BBJSC, the bar pours good drinks, and there's a nice list of reasonably priced wines and beers. The renovated art deco movie theater environment is fantastic. There is bleacher seating which is only available after the dining tables are sold out. There is a minimum $10 per person food charge which isn't too hard to meet, given the prices. Food is pretty much wedding reception standard. On a recent visit we were served very good coconut shrimp. A Caesar salad was pretty minimal. Duck breast and veal chop were done pretty much a standard medium even though ordered rare. Fish was OK. Service is pretty good though somewhat limited by having to serve around the performance. Definitely worth going to and the food is OK, but focus on the drinks and music.

This was our first time visiting this jazz club, the tickets were a Christmas gift from my supervisor. It has a well thought out floor plan with an open center space, and two levels of table seating, the ambience was very welcoming. We had the Sunday brunch and were entertained by Freddy Cole, who was fantastic, we really enjoyed listening to his singing and piano playing. The food was the usual fare, nothing remarkable. We would return, if not for the food, for the entertainment.

I read some of the reviews, and was wondering if we visited the same place. Seriously, these must be friends of the owner. True the venue itself is nice - it's an old movie theater. But the food and service was terrible - and it is not cheap. Not only that, the place was virtually empty, and the sound was still horrible. We spent WAY too much money for what we received. I will not be visiting again.
