“Good Location and comfortable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2006

Very polite staff greeted us after a long drive. Car parked (Valet - $15 a night) and check in very quick and friendly. We were in a two bed suite which has all that you need but have to say looks a little dated, carpet worn in spots and older appliances. Did not have the new Marriott Bed or really nice comforter that we have seen in other Marriott hotels recently.
Mind you, cannot beat the breakfast. Brilliant food..and lovely wait staff that cannot do enough for you. Only a 5 minute walk from the Metro and a 25 minute ride to downtown Union Station. Movie Theater right across the road and a 5 minute walk to all manner of great pubs and restaurants. Really sorry we did not have longer to stay in this location. Really nice place!

All in all a great location, good price!

When planning our trip to Bethesda, MD, I began to read the tripadvisor reviews and became somewhat disheartened. It didn't look like ANYWHERE in Bethesda was well rated.

In the end, we chose the Residence Inn.
GREAT CHOICE!!!

The staff was sooooo curteous. Always there to open the door for us upon arrival or departure. They pleasantly helped with directions and suggestions. They had valet parking which was VERY convenient--no wasted time looking for a spot in a local garage. The turnaround time on getting your car was no greater than 5 minutes. The price we paid was VERY reasonable. We paid $129.00 per night Thursday 3/23/06 through Sunday 3/26/06 which included a hot breakfast, juices, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, coffee, yogurt, USA Today and Washington Post. The room was huge and clean. We had a mini kitchen with fridge, stove, etc. A huge sitting room with a table set with service for two in the dining room.
The bathroom was marble counters with tile flooring.
The location was spectacular. It was 1-1.5 blocks from the Metro. I think a lot of people pay $279.00++ per night to stay at the Hyatt because it's located above the Metro station. Not worth it. The walk was refreshing. You could see a lot on foot from the location of The Residence Inn on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, MD.

Finally, I must recommend the restaurant, La Miche. La Miche is an adorable French restaurant in Bethesda. The chef, Jason Tepper, actually came to the table to ensure that everything was to our liking. It was the best French food I've ever had and I've been to France.

I Highly recommend both, La Miche and Residence Inn in Bethesda.

Have fun!

the hotel was is dire need of a redo. I asked the front desk clerk when the last redo and he said some rooms were recently renovated...apparently my room wasn't on the list. The lighting in the bathroom was very poor and the bed was mushy soft. My first night the toilet ran all night long but that issue was resolved the next day when I reported it so that made me very happy. I will say the breakfast buffet was quite nice...would have preferred if they had bacon along with sausage as I'm not a sausage fan. The hotel was very convenient for taking metro...only 1 1/2 blocks from the Bethesda stop. Also, it's only 1 - 2 from Woodmont where there are some great restuarants and a Giant grocery store is just 1 block past that which was very convenient. Some of the staff was helpful while others were just there.

We had a good time there the bed was comfortable and I liked the kitchen and their coffee. The bathroom was spacious but not so clean the tub had staining and old. And the toilet had either stains or dirt marks which was a turn off. Otherwise everything seemed good and the breakfast and location was good. The parking was not included and was expensive.

Booked a two bedroom suite at this hotel and the room was spacious and clean but in need of a refurbishment. The lobby and other common areas are in very good shape, the free breakfast was excellent and the location good.
The non-smoking room smelled mildly from smoke as did the hallway at times. The walls were marked up in some areas of the room and the carpet was buckling in many places.
While all of the good Residence Inn elements are here, the rooms are not up to typical RI standards. Unfortunately, there were no new hotels in the immediate area so one might want to consider the RI in Gaithersburg which might be in better shape.

My family (2 adults, 2 kids ages 12 and 8) spent 6 nights here, July 17-23. We got a 1 BR corner room on the 3rd floor with a foldout couch that was adequate for the kids. Large bathroom. Good storage space. Two TVs and 3 phones. The hotel is a fairly attractive red brick highrise that looks like it was built in the late 80s, with a lovely street level courtyard that would really be nice if the fountain running through it was working. If you've ever stayed in a RI built in the last 15 years, you will recognize the overdosed beige decor of the guest rooms. Aside from a couple of typical wear and tear issues (a corner of the wall in the bedroom near the baseboard needed repair) the room was quite nice and quiet (our kids make plenty of noise and we heard no complaints). Breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise -- more than typical continental fare (also had eggs, either sausage or bacon each day). Rooftop pool has nice views (no you can't see the Capitol or even the Washington Monument, you're too far away) but it is rather small. Just enough room to splash around in or take a lap to cool off after a hot day on The National Mall. Roomy deck for sunning. Each restroom up there (adjacent to small workout room) has a sauna, an unexpected bonus. This hotel is right on Wisconsin Ave. and just two blocks away from the Bethesda Metro station on the Red Line. Entrance is just north of the Hyatt. Look for the elevator at the corner of Wisconsin and Montgomery and cut a block off your walk, though your kids will be missing probably the longest escalator ride of their lives. Parking at the hotel (valet only) is $15 and quite speedy. But I advise the Metro. It's about 20 minutes to Metro Center and Gallery Place which get you into the heart of downtown. We flew to BWI on a Sat., had the car for one night, used it to see a couple of off-the-Metro sights then returned it the next day at Reagan National for no extra charge. Then took the Metro to the Smithsonian museums. Got a car again at the end to see things off the Metro routes and drive to Philadelphia to see the sights there and catch a Cubs-Phillies game. Several restaurants (Pizzeria UNO, Ruth's Chris, chinese buffet) are within a block but we never ended up eating there. Did use delivery service touted in the room from several local joints and ate in Chinese one night (good food, sorry I can't recall the name of the restaurant). For an extra $4 delivery fee plus the tip you would have paid anyway you don't have to leave the room. Then rented an in-room movie for that home-away-from-home feel. All in all I would recommend this hotel highly for famlies. You are not in the heart of DC, but if a pool and kitchen necessities you would be hard pressed to do better (neither RI in DC has an on-site pool). You aren't pampered at a Residence Inn - the international staff was friendly but didn't bend over backwards to help you - but if you want good basic accomodations for a reasonable price this is a good choice. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it an 8.5. As a grade, a solid B+. If the acid test is would you stay there again given the same circumstances, definitely.
