Although they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I love going for breakfast. Great place for families. Food is consistently good ans service is friendly.

Seibels Restaurant is one of those places that you really want to be good and, in fact, locals give it fairly good praise. However, if the praise is based on its history, I can understand, but it just does not live up to the praise.

It gives a nostalgic impression, like those restaurants of long ago, quaint, friendly, good *sounding* menu, pretty decent service. But, it just does not (or no longer) makes it. Food is decent but not impressive, portions are fairly generous, desserts just don't live up the the stories.

It pains me to give this type of review of a place that apparently had a great past, but time and enjoyment have passed it by.

Don't get me wrong, though. If you aren't highly critical or don't really want interesting food and desserts, this is a nice place to go, especially if you have kids and just want a meal. It was, last time we went (one of 2 times overall) fairly priced. We won't go back because it doesn't offer anything that interests us. But by all means try it if you want nostalgia, good service, moderate prices and you aren't picky about food and/or desserts.

This 'diner' is just around the corner from our house, and we've been meaning to try it for ages, as one of our son's middle name is "Seibel". Figured it would be great to have a nice diner right in the area. So with in-laws in tow - we headed over for a late breakfast.

We should have stayed home and cooked our own brunch.

The first ding was they didn't have ANY tea, except decaffeinated. No tea for a breakfast place??!
The endless coffee (which wasn't good enough to enjoy endlessly) was $2.75 for a mug and small carafe. And then our food came....
We had an extensive selection of the menu - pancakes, waffles, eggs, etc...
All came out plain and very basic. Seems they lost their spice/flavor drawer.
Eggs Benedict was average.
Although they claim the corn-beef hash to be homemade it looked and tasted more like it came from a can. It was mostly burned throughout and had little flavor.

Apparently, they have "preferred customers" here - as several groups of people came in after us, and were seated long before us. Almost caused us to leave as this happened 5 times. Hostess also didn't attempt to grab a booster/high-chair for out little one (2 yrs), so I had to lug it through the restaurant.

Might go back for ice cream, but not again for breakfast or any other meal.

Service: Prompt, friendly and professional
Food: Ehh.. Basic diner fare.
Parking: Lot. fairly ample
Bathrooms: Cramped, but clean
Ambiance: It seemed to be an older crowd (as in the senior set of 65+)
Prices: Seemed a bit pricey for diner fare.
Patio: Decent size, but situated right on Rt. 198.
Waiting are: Cramped with only 5-6 seats

Of note: The grill is right upfront and in plain view. Having served as a cook at various restaurant I was dismayed to see the primary line cook not wearing a hair net to keep her hair back; and was also wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt.

The food is pretty good but way over priced for the amount of food you get. When you ask for a glass of water you get a 6oz glass, when I said I wanted a large glass, I was told this is what we were told to use for water. The ice cream is food but for a small sundae, they charge you for the topping! They recently renovated but the prices are still way too high for the small serving sizes.
