The nice granite countertops in bath and over refrigerator/microwave cabinet, plus good quality bed and pillows could not make up for the fact that the hotel is dirty and poorly maintained. The hallway carpets and the entire elevator (walls and carpet) are filthy. I thought at first that heavy traffic would make it tricky to accomplish shampooing, But we stayed 8 nights, and saw no change, not even in the vending machine hall area on the 2nd floor, where shampooing could have been done since traffic is scarce there. Many guests paid no attention to the No Smoking rule for the elevator. The swimming pool area obviously had faulty or no moisture exhaust system because when it was being used, the staff simply propped the door open with a metal folding chair to keep the windows from fogging completely. Thus, all the noise of those playing and swimming spilled out, not to mention the moisture. Towels are obviously jammed into washers when laundered because three times in a row, I pulled long, black hair strands in 3 separate towels. What was most frustrating was that every single day we went out for our meetings and then returned to the hotel, our keycards would not work. We followed the instructions of the front desk man to a "T" and yet it continued until we checked-out. Not once did we receive an apology for the inconvenience. One time, we sought the help of housekeeping staff (3 in all) who were on our floor at the same time, and none would help us get into our room. [In other hotels where this has happened, a housekeeper would contact the front desk by radio, and someone would come with newly swiped keycards.] Service is not a value in this place. Second most frustrating daily issue was the fact that I could not get on-line via the free wireless service. My husband used the ethernet connection (1 per room, I guess) and had no problems, but Wi-fi connection never happened for me. I had booked 10 rooms for a large group, some of whom had been with us at two previous Country Inn & Suites properties (most recently February in the Gilbert, AZ area) where we enjoyed high quality service and facilities. But I think when I make reservations now, I'm going to consider La Quinta and Marriott hotels before another Country Inn.

Country inn Suites was a nice surprise. It was my first time at Carlson group and certainly Capital Heights keeps its standards. It's about a mile from closest subway station - Morgan Boulevard. There is a bus just around the conner for only $0.75, you can reach subway at parking lot in 5 minutes (the station has a public parking for $3.50). Or you can walk. [----]

There is a mall outside at Hampton Mall Drive with stores and market,
Wendy's, KFC and other choices for eating and shopping. The hotel comes with everything a traveler need: microwave, fridge, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron, all inside room, wireless, complimentary breakfast (cereal, yogurt, milk, coffee, Belgium waffles, fruits, eggs). Inside pool and small gym room available. It's brand-new, the owner made it cozy and pleasant. Everything was quite clean. Nice pillows. Staff was courteous and attentive.

The hotel is cheap if compared to Washington rates (133 for a quad room with breakfast). Check in and checkout was easy and fast.

DIRECTIONS: We had a little problem finding hotel, but it was OK after we located it. Directions from hotel website is hard to understand, so please print a Google map instead. From Baltimore, New
York and Philadelphia, probably you will reach i495, exit 15b to Central avenue (214). 214 leads directly to Washington, when the road
changes name to East Capitol. But after crossing the lake and finding a giant stadium, things get ugly, you might need the Google map. From Washington, it's not an easier task, because streets change directions all the times. Best way is from the south side, take Independence Avenue, it will then becomes Pennsylvania in some way, after Capitol (2nd street SE), take 6th street to get back to Independence Avenue, it will leads directly to the stadium and East Capitol. Going to Washington requires a good map cos traffic in DC is extremely complicated and there is not place for parking, best choice is definitely subway.

My family visited Six Flags in Maryland this weekend. We had a great time at the park and decided to spend the night in Maryland.

I had researched the area and picked this hotel. Don't believe everything you read about this area. It does look a little shady when you ride down the street but the area where the hotel is, is just fine.

The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The room was large .

I am handicap, I use a wheelchair and walker. The roll in shower was great. The room had plenty of space for all my stuff.

Breakfast was pretty good. Muffins, waffles, yogurt and bagels.

  • Liked — Big rooms, breakfast, close to Six Flags America!
  • Disliked — Pool has limited hours
