“A diamond in the rough”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

We were just out for a little day trip an stopped here for lunch.I noticed that soup of the day(it was cold)was a mushroom and rice, what a perfect blend of flavors just perfect.I had the Cod fish sandwich and my wife had a ham and brie sandwich. The Cod was perfect an a very large piece cut three ways to fit onto the roll, which was a very good grade of Kaiser roll.If you have a chance don't miss out on this small dinner in a lovely town.

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

I've only been here for breakfast but it's my favorite place in Cecil County. Homestyle cooking, no artificial ingredients, large portions.

“A Cool 1940's look to our breakfast.”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

Most of the houses in this area, looks like something from Old Williamsburg, VA.....and it surprised us.

This place provided a different charm that is usually seen in smaller villages, in a country type setting. I kept looking around for an old jukebox with some Woody Guthrie type songs in it.

Barb and I ordered omelets, coffee and orange juice. We were given plenty of time to talk about our next events for the day, while they prepared our food.
A large map is on the wall, at our table, which is a record of 5 early state boundaries from the late 1600's.

Our food was set before us, and it was just "OK". Basic, and in smaller portions.
The fried potatoes could fit in the palm of my hand, without any of it falling out.

The bonus round came from the pastry display case, at the end of the room. You would not know it was there, unless you had to pass it by.
Great home made pastries, cakes, and more. When you go there for breakfast, check the display case first, and then plan your meal.
As you look out the window of this restaurant, with your breakfast and coffee in front of you, you could almost hear a faint whistle blowing from a distant train......as it slowly fades away.

The food was a bit pricey for what you got.
The nostalgic atmosphere was unique and timeless.

The best to all of you.

“Quaint, friendly & serving good food”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

We found our way here for a light dinner through the recommendation of our innkeeper. It's a quaint and unpretentious local feel - the kind of place we felt comfortable in as soon as we walked in. The server was friendly and helpful.

There were evening specials of pasta and seafood as well as soups. We opted for a turkey sandwich which was made with real turkey and a salad. Very good!
