“Could be better”

Went here with husband & mother to celebrate her birthday, she had been here years ago & loved it. We sat in the bar area by the windows, there were about 10 others tables seated throughout place. It took at least 5 minutes before our server came over, she was very nice but not a great server. We ordered drinks & an appetizer (French fried with melted cheese & cream of crab to dip in), the drinks took forever, the fries were pretty good. We ordered crab cake sandwiches & seafood salad, the crab cakes didn't look completely cooked, they must broil them but weren't browned at all. They were warm not hot, asked for tarter sauce which came mid way through the rest of us eating. I guess we should've asked how they were prepared. The seafood salad was delicious, had large pieces of crab & lobster & the champagne dressing topped it off nicely. For dessert we ordered the chocolate chip ricotta cheesecake & a brownie sundae, both were good. It was raining pretty heavy this day & there was a bad leak from the ceiling in the corner of the bar, they only placed a caution sign in the walk way & still allowed people to walk through it, not too smart. Overall it was ok.

“Just Okay”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

Went there on a Sunday afternoon for the Steel Band?? There were 10 of us.
The Drinks were sub-par. It seems the bartenderS didn't know how to make some drinks so you got some really odd looking drinks. Plus everytime you ordered another one it was different again. I know they have many bartenders but they should ALL be taught how to make drinks the SAME way.
The food was not bad. We all ordered assorted apps. Only complaint was the mussels were small (if this is the case, how about adding a few more??)
The Steel Band was awful. Expected to see beautiful Steel Drums, colorful attire, and true Caribbean music. Not here. I think Schaefers can do better.

“Long wait”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

We came by boat with some friends and two toddlers. When we arrived we were waiting in the wrong location to be seated, the signage wasn't very clear. Once we realized where to go for the seating, there was a 15 minute wait. However, there were open tables but the restaurant was busy. So we just assumed there wasn't enough staff for the amount of tables. When we did get seated we waiting a half an hour for our food that we ordered. I thought that was a long wait for food. The atmosphere was great. It was a beautiful day. I had the fish taco's, they weren't bad but they weren't the greatest! Our friend got the crab mac and cheese which looked great and he loved it! My husband got the turkey club and he like it. The kids got chicken fingers in which there were plenty and left overs for home. The sweet potato fry's are good but could use a dip to go with. We understand that the place just got back up and running so we will give it another try.

The food was good but ordinary and tepid, rather than hot. The service was spotty -had to ask for silverware, no bread or rolls. The locale and my companions made it ok.

“Great atmosphere, mediocre food and drink menu.”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

Although the restaurant has a prime spot on the canal, the food is sub par and the beer and wine list is despicable with the most exotic beer being Yuengling. Cross the bridge for some better options.
