“January Morning !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2013

Walked over early this morning at 6:45 a.m. from the Imperial Hotel across the street where I was staying. Was greeting to rows of fresh bakery delicacies. Ordered a latte and sat down and enjoyed the free WiFi service as the regulars came in for their morning java. Was a nice treat on a cold January morning

“Light and heavy both good”

The Sun Bun was awesome! The dense German multigrain bread was too, in a very different way. Both had wonderful taste and texture.

“Great breads, pastries, soup, and hot chocolate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2013

We ate there twice during the week we spent in Chestertown. Everything we had was top notch. The breads are fresh and warm. The butternut squash soup was as good as I've had anywhere. The hot chocolate is normally just steamed chocolate milk; we were fortunate to arrive on a day when they had run out of the normal fare, and they substituted steamed milk with Nutella. Amazingly good, and new staple in our home, thanks to their sharing the trick with us.

“Truly great breads and coffee plus...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2012

Can't say enough good things about what is now Evergrain Bread Company, which is so much more than bread. But the bread is what makes it a stand-out. The space and location are terrific, at the quiet ends of the main street, being en enjoyable place to sit with morning coffee and a pastry (the croissants and brioche rolls are REAL, not supermarket stuff) or a light lunch. The coffee here is the BEST. One of us, a connoisseur of good coffee, says this was the best cappuccino he's ever had (twice in a row). I had a Nutella latte, which is dangerously delicious. Let's just say that I'm glad we live well over an hour away. This stuff is hot dessert in a cup. But back to the bread; the heavenly bread. It's made in the old European style with top quality ingredients which makes it real bread. The web site has a video which is well worth watching for fans of real bread - which ranks up there with real beer. If you're not a fan, it will convert you. Chestertown is a great little town for a day out, wandering the quiet street, giving your patronage to the local merchants (wander the back streets, too). Seek out Evergrain Bread..it's worth a pilgrimage...and if you can't get there, go to the Saturday market in Easton, where you can also buy Evergrain bread, but without the lovely ambience of the bakery and coffee shop in an almost perfect little town.

“as good as new york”

When you enter the bakery the smell of fresh baked pastries makes you twice as hungry. Has Internet service, which is hard to find in Chestertown. Arrive early they were out of a few things. Then again it was a holiday weekend.
