We found Marta and the John Stam/Hill's Inn B&B through a recommendation from another B&B owner and were so glad we did. Marta is a wonderful host and we had such a lovely time. The accommodations were terrific (I can assure you the bed in the Jarrell Room is very very comfortable), the host is a charm, gracious and so friendly, the food was amazing (ask how she learned to cook - great story, in fact she has lived an amazing life full of fascinating experiences), and the house is loved and beautifully restored. Plus, the location is fabulous. The house is in a beautiful location along a street lined with other Victorians, all very close to everything you need to reach. We have friends in the area and we suggested that they recommend people to the John Stam B&B in the future.

I know we will be back.

Room Tip: I am sure they are all great, but we slept in the Jarrell Room and were cozy. Restored to new condit...

Marta is the ultimate innkeeper! She makes perfect coffee as early in the am as you need it and makes raspberry iced tea in the pm and always has sherry in the parlor. The side porch is lovely in the morning - watch the ospreys circle overhead as they search for breakfast in the nearby Chester River. The Inn is two blocks from lovely Chestertown's "downtown." Check out the Evergrain Bakery and the Saturday Farmer's Mkt and the 1896 iron fountain in the town square and the Lemon Leaf cafe .And believe it or not some local wineries are making some pretty good wine not too far away! Loved our experience - we had the 3rd floor king or twin bed room with private bath. For this room only, you get to take your bath/shower up in the cupola! If you like architecture, the house is a beautifully restored Gothic Revival that is just a joy to savor!!

A beautifully restored and comfortable Victorian B&B; we enjoyed Marta's hospitality here for two days.
Delicious foods at breakfast and first-rate coffee. Generous portions too. Highly recommended!
The inn is centrally located in this early-American Eastern shore town.
We'll be back, Marta!

We stayed 2 nights in this wonderful historical Victorian home. I can't say enough good things about this Inn. Marta, the innkeeper, is a gracious host and you immediately feel at home. She has lovingly restored this home to a beautiful B & B that truly takes you back in history. The rooms are spacious and decorated with lovely antiques. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfasts are absolutely wonderful. If you would like to go to a place where you will be spoiled.....Hills Inn at the John Stam House is definitely the place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Stam Room and it was perfect. It offered morning sun. We toured the house and saw...

We had a very enjoyable stay. The Inn is meticuously decorated. It was so enjoyable to see all the attention to detail and comfort. Marta is terrific and her breakfasts are superb, She is very warm and friendly. She is a wonderful host and when you leave, you feel she is your friend. The Inn is a very close walk to town or to the college. There are great restaurants nearby and the town of Chestertown was a great town to walk around. We will definitely be coming back again.

Marta took very good care of us on our recent stay. The most impressive aspect of our stay was the comfort of the bed and sheets. I seriously could have stayed in bed for a month. The room was lovely as was the whole house. We enjoyed the made to order breakfast as well. I will stay at this B and B in the future.

Our stay here was so enjoyable. It was our first experience staying in a B&B and Marta, the Innkeeper, really made it special, we are definitely spoiled. Marta and her husband have been restoring the home with so much love and appreciation for the architecture, it is very clear. Marta was so warm and delightful. Our room had a queen size bed, very nicely and newly decorated, with it's own bath. Each room is very unique. The 3rd floor had a really nice room. The breakfasts were so delicious in addition to a beautiful presentation . Marta enjoys cooking, a little New Orleans influence, and is very good at it. The location is very convenient to town and the college.
We will definitely return. We felt so comfortable and at home.
