“Great getaway weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2013

We stayed 3 day in the Russell cottage in May. The grounds were amazing and the cottage was wonderful. The first night we slept almost 11 hours. The view of the meadow from the bed in the cottage was a nice way to wake up every morning.

We really enjoyed our recent stay in between our bike trips in Maryland and Delaware. The grounds were stunning at this time of year and the very first night we had the entire property to ourselves. Rita was very friendly and helpful showing us around and invited us take a look at all the other cottages and rooms as well.

We enjoyed playing with Squeaky and having Slipper (the resident cats) visit us at afternoon tea on the porch even if he was just interested in getting some food from our plates!

Everything was very clean and we appreciated the advice on local restaurants and local bike rides. Breakfast and afternoon tea were both very good.

We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Russell cottage and it was the best of both worlds. We had our own retreat as well...

Our area is fantastic for biking with good shoulders and just enough small hills to make it interesting. We are so glad you had a great time.

My husband and I and our two college-aged daughters stayed at the Brampton in March. We had both rooms on the 3rd floor, which worked out extremely well as the girls had a room with two single beds. I did get a peek at the other rooms in the main Inn - they were lovely. I don't think you can go wrong with any room - beautiful decor, luxurious linens, perfect service and very clean. The cottages were very private. Breakfast was delicious, and we also enjoyed the afternoon tea with sweets and savories, and the yummy cookies in the bottomless cookie jar! Everyone we met was very hospitable and friendly. It was a very wonderful break from work and school. Stay at the Brampton - you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: If you want complete privacy, choose one of the newer cottages in the back of the property.

We recently stayed at this in with Discovery Bicycle Tours! The food and the service were excellent. The Inn is beautiful, well-kept, and clean. The grounds are so pretty! I would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Green Room. It was nicely decorated and very spacious. However, it was on the thi...

We needed a getaway that wasn't going to break the bank or take us too far away, and the Brampton Inn in Chestertown was just the spot. We stayed for 2 nights in the Camelia, which is the pet-friendly cottage next to the main house (we brought our dog). It's a cute one bedroom house, not traditional like the main house but more of a mid-century meets modern cabin. Different but we liked it. The bathroom is luxurious, there are adirondack chairs behind the house looking over the lawn, and there is a new kitchen that we didn't use but would be great for someone looking to cook and not eat out.
Served in the main house, the breakfasts were delicious - healthy options and indulgent treats, depending on your mood. The family that owns the property was very accommodating and friendly. Just outside of town, it was peaceful yet not too remote. Oh and we loved that they were environmentally friendly! We love supporting places that try to make a difference.
We'll definitely be back!

Green Features: I loved that they were eco-conscious; it makes the stay more enjoyable knowing that your impact is reduced. A definite plus.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed ourselves. The setting, buildings, and grounds are beautiful. Two of us stayed in Camellia Cottage, which is a very large one-BR unit with a full kitchen. It has an outstanding shower and a heated towel rack, but otherwise not much character. A couple of extra people could easily fit in the living room. Two others of us stayed in Russell's Cottage, which is much smaller but more charming. The staff was welcoming and friendly, both on the phone and in person. There's a bird feeder by the main building (although it had no food until we pointed this out) and several different habitats on the property for bird watching, as well as good proximity to numerous other areas.

We picked this inn primarily because of its listing in Select Registry, and by those VERY high standards it barely measured up. Breakfast and afternoon tea were tasty but the selection was small and there were few extras. Room amenities like toiletries were good but not outstanding. The TV was only in the living room - it was rather small and we couldn't get ESPN to watch a playoff game, so we wound up going to a bar in town. We had a few minor housekeeping quibbles that were easily corrected.

I found this wonderful Bed and Breakfast Inn online. Everything about it looked great, so I booked it for a birthday getaway. The Trip Adviser reviews were spot on. It was awesome. Loved the accommodations and attention to detail. Very charming and welcoming. The food was fantastic and the service was top notch. Afternoon tea was a special added touch as were the freshly baked cookies always on hand. They should have their own cookbook! A great place to kick back and relax. Highly recommended!
