“We loved Lisa”
Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

We had a very nice stay the Holiday Inn in College Park. We would have preferred a couple more amenities such as a continental breakfast and hot drinks available throuhout the day. However, that did not ruin our experience. It had a nice pool and gym area. The room was comfortable, nothing fancy, and had a microwave and refrigerator which was convenient. Overall the accommodations were pleasant, but what really set the service apart was their front desk person Lisa. She was attentive and friendly, she truly cares about the guests, and she does an amazing job. She made our stay 100 times better!

stayed there for 5 nights - the room is very clean, has a mini-fridge and a microwave. It seems like a very busy hotel, with several conferences and many events going on. The lobby can be very crowded and noisy, but I did not experience noise in my room. Location is very convenient to both I-95 and I-495, and the hotel is only steps away from the IKEA store. Good value.

As part of a travel baseball team we spend many weekends in hotels. We stayed at this hotel last year and were very happy with them. This year was quite different. From check-in (where we were not even offered our normal Holiday Inn Reward type coupons), to the lack of customer service among the management.

As a team we usually have pizza back at the hotel after a game so the kids can swim and relax. We were told by the manager on duty that there was no common area we could use to eat since the large common area on the main floor was a "no food or drink" area. He offered no solution except to go to our rooms. This is a large hotel - many solutions could have been offered but nothing was offered except go to your room (which is a terrible solution to the other guests on our floor not part of a team).

The total lack of cooperation, customer service, and problem solving skills was upsetting. Follow-up phone calls to the hotel, to the main Holiday Inn Guest Services were also met with disregard. A simple - sorry, we will take your concerns seriously would have gone a long way. I would NEVER recommend this hotel for a team or group.

As an aside - our room had newer décor but not very clean- walls dirty, baseboards dirty.

Dear Stephen252,

Thank you for your recent stay at Holiday Inn College Park. We are sorry to hear that your stay was not more enjoyable.

Unlike Holiday Inn Express or other limited service hotels, we are a full-service hotel and our licensing does not permit any food & beverage purchased outside the hotel to be brought in to any of our public areas such as the Lobby, Media Area, Pool or Banquet/Meeting space. We have designed Sports Team specific banquet menus in order to accommodate team meals in a private banquet room.

If we knew in advance what you needs might be, we might have been able to suggest some sort of alternative for you.

Because we were sold out the weekend of your stay, we had little flexibility and tried to make sure that all our guest could enjoy the use of our Media and Lobby area.

I was torn between two and three stars. First of all it was graduation weekend at U of Md so maybe that contributed to the huge amount of people staying at this hotel in addition to some kind of convention.

It was so difficult to walk through the lobby because there were a lot of people milling about, greeting each other, or just standing in the walk way. Check in was very busy and we were early - I admit it. It was around 12:30 and we were told check in was at 3:00. Well, we had to get dressed for a graduation and our pickup was at 2:30. They didn't see if a room was ready, just told us check in is at 3 and to come back then. I begged them to call me if a room was ready before then and didn't expect a call back. However, they called at 1:45 and said the room was ready. So, this was a very pleasant surprise.

The room was clean and the view of Ikea - well, I could say less about that. The people at the convention or meeting were on our floor and partied until 6:00 a.m. We refrained from complaining because they were older adults who just were having a good time. We were probably the only people who were not part of the group.

The restaurant downstairs was convenient and service was outstanding. The food was okay but they tried to make it all pleasant. The staff at the restaurant is to be commended for their attention to service.

Other than that, this is conveniently located. At another time, there may have been less confusion. The Ikea next door provided something to do while waiting for the room.

Room Tip: Either you are looking at a highway or Ikea - I don't think there is any other choice. Ask for...

I check Trip Advisor all the time, and this hotel had some mixed reviews. Generally though, it is VERY convenient and easy to get to. The hotel itself is very nice, which is typical of Holiday Inn. The room was comfortable and the furnishings were tasteful. We usually stay in Holiday Inn Express, and this is not one of them. But, we have grown accustomed to such things as coffee/tea in the room, complimentary breakfast (we were told we could have "booked" breakfast... Boo!), and the comments about paper thin walls... Yeah, that's correct. Our room was just off the lobby, and there was some sort of bus trip... Whatever... kids in the hall until late at night, and they weren't savvy enough to be quiet.

We did enjoy the indoor pool (3-5 feet), which gave our granddaughter something fun to do. The room was very clean, and the staff was helpful. The restaurant there, Moose Creek Lodge, had good food, but it is very pricey. Five adults and a 3-year-old... Burgers, two apps, and a kids meal (Which was supposed to be free, but wasn't), soft drinks... Over $100.

Room Tip: We were in 118 (I think)... Point is, it was a few steps off the lobby, and the lobby was busy the n...

I've stayed in fantastic places before, this just isn't even on the same planet. It's simply a place to stay, it was clean, the bed was comfortable, but walls paper thin. Sooo noisy! Breakfast should also be served earlier.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in College Park as a half way point on our way from South Carolina to our son's graduation in Long Island. Booked a double queen large room on Priceline. Paid extra for it. When checking in, we were told that no such room exists and the only room with two beds were double beds which were uncomfortable as there were four of us. The check in person just told us that we would have to talk to Priceline. We also booked this hotel because the HI website said that it had a hot tub. Front desk person told us that got removed a few months ago. We wanted to get out on the road early and complementary coffee would have been wonderful. No such thing here. Have to buy it in the restaurant and that doesn't open until 7 a.m. Had a wonderful time in Long Island at a Hampton Inn with free breakfast, a hot tub and 24 hour free coffee.

Room Tip: There is no double queen room if Priceline is advertising it.
