I dined at Lemongrass in Crofton (which according to the hostess/server is no longer associated with Lemongrass in Annapolis, MD) recently. The restaurant has a nice decor (outside and in the main area) and there was no wait. The menu had the usual suspects and most entrees are available as vegetarian or with chicken/shrimp. Our table had the bacon wrapped scallops and wontons for appetizers. They were both tasty. We had the crispy duck (not very crispy) and shrimp pad pik. The service was good as was the live band however; the food/overall experience was just average.

This may be a good place for someone easing into Thai cuisine. The layout of the restaurant would be great for small parties.

This place use to be good when they first got new people in but that has all changed.
The crisp duck was burnt duck. The broccoli wasn't even cooked in the noodle dish. The garlic sauce is now in a bowl instead of on the food, asked for extra garlic cooked with the duck that didnt happen. All in all this place has gone down hill.

Sevice is going down hill fast. Attendance is down, service is slow and food is extra greasy. We went in to enjoy the happy hour special and we were told they were only avaliable at the bar. There were only to other families in the place and they couldn't extend the specails to the tables. It didn't add up for us. Sadly we will not be returning.

The first visit food was okay. We dined in at the bar. Service was good because the bartender was very attentive. Today, thought I would go back and try a meal that my girlfriend had which was pretty tasty. Second time around - as a take out it was awful and the portion seemed to be a lunch portion. I was using a coupon from restaurant.com so maybe they were compensating for discount. Also ordered spring rolls -- very greasy. Needless to say will NOT be going back for third try.

The good:

The decor is very nice. The waitresses were nice.

The bad:

Portion size/price point.

We paid $8 for 6 very small (likely from the freezer section) steamed dumplings. Not worth it. The Shrimp Massaman Curry was $16. We ordered it anticipating we'd be taking some of it home for lunch, as is the norm with Thai food. There were three shrimp floating in a medium sized bowl of overly sweet yellow curry. The white onions were uncooked and abundant. Even if there had been left overs we wouldn't have brought them home. Again, not worth it. We ordered Chicken Satay for the kids, or "chicken on a stick" as they call it. It was yellow chicken on a stick. Nothing in the way of seasoning or grilling. It was served with a very uninspired peanut sauce (seemed like it was probably from a jar) and some sweet vinegar with three TINY pieces of cucumber floating in it.

The Service:

It was soooo slow. We'd been there nearly 20 minutes when they took our order. It was another 20-30 minutes to get our food. I spent a solid 20 minutes with and empty water glass and only managed that one refill in our time there. The waitresses were nice but there were only two of them and they weren't exactly johnny-on-the-spot. Finally, the young lady who I assume was the hostess was too busy playing on her cell phone to acknowledge us on the way out.

I am extremely disappointing with this restaurant and will not be going back. I LOVE Thai food! There are much better places near here to get it. If the new Thai place in Waugh Chapel is any good, Lemongrass will go out of business. This place puts too much emphasis on its decor and should focus on its food and its service. I've eaten amazing Thai food from dark dank holes-in-the-wall, in the back corners of dangerous, semi-abandoned strip malls that put this place to shame.

Do yourself a favor and don't go here.

Oh! Hats off to the girl in the kitchen (the one with the bowl cut) she was running her @#$ off getting food out. Too bad her enthusiasm couldn't have spread to the rest of the half-asleep staff.
