“GAP trail Cumberland to Pittsburg”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

The GAP is a must for those who enjoy a relaxed, scenic trail. It is in great condition despited some heave rain in early July. We enjoyed the first 100 miles for the peace and quiet and interesting little towns we passed through (and the GREAT B&B's we stayed in). The last 50 or so McKeesport into Pittsburg were more urban and less natural scenery. And it was raining so we were not enjoying it as much. DO THIS TRIP!! We are currently searching out more Rails to Trails for our next vacation.

“160 miles of great riding”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

The GAP is a very fun ride. We went from Pittsburgh to Cumberland. It was 160 miles of great scenery. Yeah I know that it is only 150 or so miles in reality but we had about a 7-8 mile detour misguided portion of the ride (our fault). After learning that the trail doesn't have exit markers for towns (to Perryopolis our first nights stop). Also the trail needs better markers in Pittsburgh as we had to wing-it to find how to get to the bridge to go across the river and through some of the other areas going out of town. We will do this again only all the way to Washington DC.

“The adventure of 2014”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

A beautiful, scenic trail. We biked it. It goes through quaint, historic towns and is well-maintained. Compared to the C&O Canal Trail though, not a lot of places to camp.

“Redeeming Towns”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

I didn't thing very highly of the trail itself but staying in Meyersdale made the monotony of the trail well worth the trip.
