Inn at 202 Dover
Ranked #2 of 5 Easton B&B and Inns
Reviewed 1 August 2011

The Inn at 202 Dover is our first bed and breakfast experience. I'm afraid that I'll be disappointed by any other bed and breakfast establishment after staying there for our 12th anniversary weekend. We stayed in the safari suite, which is bigger than most apartments in D.C. and has everything from a comfortable living area to a steam shower and massaging lighted jacuzzi tub, to a very comfortable bed and elegant furnishings. A lot of thought went into designing the suite and to us it was perfect. The house as a whole is a 10,000 sqft mansion complete with a small restaurant that serves top-notch food. You'll meet the proprietors, Ron and Shelby, who will make your stay outstanding. Our room was serviced at least twice a day and it was just a perfect getaway for my wife and myself. The town of Easton is very relaxing and beautiful as well with plenty of choices for dining and entertainment (try the Coffee Cat/Night Cat, a five-minute walk for coffee and live music, or Mason's for a drink, dinner, chocolates and/or wine). Yes, it can be a little bit expensive, but you'll get your money's worth.

I meant to write this review immediately upon return. The Inn is absolutely lovely and Shelby and Ron have put a great deal of care and planning into its design. They are charming hosts and work to make everyone feel welcome. The restaurant is
worth a trip, even if you aren't staying at the inn. My husband and I definitely want
to return and have recommended it to all our friends!

Inn at 202 Dover is a pricey but totally worth it extravagance. Shelby and Ron were the general contractors for the renovation of a beautiful but somewhat derelict mansion and have resurrected the bones of a great old house and then taken it to the next level with all the comforts of a great old residence and then added all the not so little nuances of really comfortable beds and great bathrooms and AIR CONDITIONING- i know everyone has air conditioning now a days but; working it thoughtfully into an old residence is a trick and they have played that trick. So the food is fabulous, Easton is a wonderful old, working, real town, and totally worth visiting.

Room Tip: Not sure what to say here but we loved the English Suite.

We visited the Inn at 202 as a birthday celebration for my husband. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a gem just a short commute from Northern Virginia. This is a beautiful B&B. The property is exquisitly landscaped and the rooms are spacious and luxorious. My husband has done a lot of travelling and he said it was the best room he had ever stayed in.

We loved the town of Easton. Ron and Shelby, the owners of the Inn were kind enough to share some of the town's history and social offerings. We can see why it is such a popular place. We took a walk through town each morning and came back to a wonderful breakfast. We had dinner at the Peacock Restaurant our first evening and give it a 5 star rating. I am still dreaming of the wonderful gazpacho with tomatoe and citrus sorbet.

This is definitely the place you want to stay when visiting the Eastern Shore. We will be back!

Room Tip: Our favorite is the Safari Room

We were more than pleased with our "mini get-a-way" at the Inn at 202 Dover in Easton, Maryland. The Inn was as fine as any of the amazing places we have visited but had the added bonus of feeling like "home."

Every attention to detail in restoration and decoration plus warm hospitality made for a most comfortable base for our Eastern Shore visit. St. Michaels was a short ride away. We explored there and other surrounding towns. It turned out that Easton called us back for 'more.' The shopping was lovely and the restaurants we tried were outstanding.

Our most memorable moments were at the Inn. We had a delicious and creative breakfast each morning. The Vodka Tasting - who knew there was so much to learn about vodka? One night we had a wonderful, creative dinner at the fine restaurant at the Inn. We let the Inn know of our special dietary needs in advance and there was gluetin-free French toast -wow!

Our hosts, Shelby and Ron started out as the inn keepers of a magnificient Bed & Breakfast. When we left, we knew we wanted to return to see our new friends.

Room Tip: We saw all of the rooms and all are excellent!

The Inn at 202 Dover was magnificent! My husband and I spent our anniversary there and were treated royally — chocolate chip cookies with the turndown service, in-room sherry, luxurious linens in a huge suite with bath, bedroom and sitting area (the photos can‘t do it justice). The Inn is a Victorian delight, not fussy or quaint, but true to the Victorian aesthetic in its sophisticated playfulness and exquisite attention to detail — the enclosed wraparound porch surrounded by greenery and gardens was an especially nice setting for both breakfast and dinner. Try the Inn’s signature drink — the Peacock Feather martini — and then surrender to the spell of this splendidly romantic B&B. It's within walking distance of Easton's shops and restaurants, and the innkeepers are knowledgeable guides to the area, but you won't want to leave.

Room Tip: French suite very quiet, first floor.
