What more could you ask for than a friendly greeting when you arrive, a good table, good menu selection and excellent service. In honor of St. Patrick's day we had the Sheppherd's Pie and the Corned Beef and Cabbage. Yes, the name implies that it's an Italian restaurant, but these dishes were excellent and came out hot! And, save room for dessert. Their home made cheesecakes are divine.

Food is very average. Doesn't taste fresh. Would be ok if prices were lower. Service has been ok at time and very slow at others. Won't be back.

Stella Notte is located on Route 40 at Route 29 in Ellicott City, sitting alone at the edge of a shopping center with mostly Asian restaurants and businesses.

The food, decor, and atmosphere is basically casual neighborhood Italian.

Pros: Three out of four of us liked our meals. None of the food was especially memorable, but it was tasty. Our server was polite and attentive and took our orders without writing them down (which I feel tends to be risky). Still he brought the right meals, so kudos for that. Prices were moderate, with dinner entrees from $14 - $26.

Cons: We were seated in a raised area with just a few tables which were so close together that we could barely get in and out of our seats without knocking into the people on our left, and their conversation, which kept getting louder as the evening went on, interfered with ours. The server brought out three meals, then returned to the kitchen for the fourth, a situation always awkward for diners eating together. Diner #4 wasn't excited by his Veal Marsala, saying he'd had better at a local chain.

If you live in the Baltimore area, keep your eyes out for the "Buy one entree, get one free" coupon in the free local advertising circulars. Only one coupon per table though. Still we saved $16 and in my opinion, saving money is always good.

The food, the service, and the ambience are really very good. My wife and I go there all the time. The Caesar salad and Greek salads are delicious. The calamari is a treat. I like many dishes: Cheese ravioli with meatballs, the brick oven pizza, the trout almandine. My wife likes all of those plus the eggplant parmesan (not all at one sitting, of course!) In the winter, sit in the dining room where the brick oven is--very warm and cozy. In the spring/summer, sit in the glassed-in room with the trees. You're really going to enjoy this place. Don't spend $150 to go to Little Italy. Go to Stella Notte!

My wife and I have been here many times and a few times with our neighbors and the food was very good. The two of us decided to have a bithday celeration on a Monday night after finding a coupon for a discounted dinner. The server offerd us a 50% discount on a $27 bottle of low quality pinot grigio which we accepted. We received the bill and presented our coupon and were told the coupon was not honored since we ordered the wine. Also an 18% tip was included.
The manager was rude when we advised him of our situation. We will not be dining there again.
