We had a great weekend at Smith Island Inn. Michelle Davidson, whose family owns the Inn, booked us, but wasn't on the island that weekend. However, the innkeeper, John, worked to make our visit very pleasant. He gave us plenty of advice about the Island's culture, what to see, and where to go. The Inn is very clean, comfortable, and homey. It is small (3 guest rooms) and so the experience is very personal. We made use of the kayaks and bikes that the Inn has available, and were able to explore the area. The breakfasts were very simple, but tasty and generous. You won't want to fill up too much at breakfast, however, because you'll have the opportunity to enjoy crab and Smith Island cake during lunch at Ruke's in Ewell or the Drum Point Market in Tylerton. We found the islanders to be incredibly welcoming, and counted this as a truly unique and enjoyable weekend. Can't wait to go back.
