We had a wonderful overnight stay at Battleaxes. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard and extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a fabulous walk in shower and lovely thick fluffy towels! The staff there are excellent, lovely, smiley and fantastically helpful, they definitely want to make sure that you enjoy your time there. The breakfast was delicious and very good quality ingredients. We will hopefully be back!

The only problem that you will have to 'battle' with at this restaurant is which of the yummy dishes you will want to eat! I went there last night with a friend, without a reservation, and had a fantastic meal, in a great atmosphere ans served by really friendly staff. The cost of the meal wasn't 'over thetop' and the food was good, pub food... the sticky toffee pudding is going to be a firm favourite with me! The pub has recently been taken over and all the better for it - the Battleaxes over the past few years has had a bot of a rough ride with changing owners - but I really hope the new owners stay - the pub deserves to be popular - but not so much that I wont be able to get a table in future

Went for a trip out, didn't book a table . Decor a bit dark but lots if candles , even in the toilet !
Service was very good, didn't have to wait long between courses. Excellent merlot served , had a 3 course meal which was all very nice , portions are not very big but very tasty. I think a plate of steamed vegetables would be nice to go with the main course . I would go agin in fact I am next weekend with a large party to see how they cope with that .

Just had a really lovely stay here - the room is very stylish with beautiful art deco wallpaper and furniture. The Bathroom is huge with a lovely walk in shower. We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely and very reasonable - 3 courses each for four people came to less than £80 (not including wine). The staff were very friendly too. Good breakfast in the morning and very much like the fact you can eat it after check out (which is at 11am). Followed night here with a trip to Tynesfield, which was great.

It's really nice to come across a hotel that lives up to billing and also doesn't cost the earth. The Battleaxes is superb. The photos of the rooms don't do them justice. We upgraded to £110 b&b and had a huge bedroom - with king size bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, thick carpets and beautiful furniture. The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom and contained a large free standing bath, double shower (with entrance at either end) and his and hers sinks.
To compliment the accommodation the bar and restaurant were excellent. The food, evening meal and breakfast were good and inexpensive.
Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

The Battleaxes is a large pub with 6 guest rooms attached

I stayed for one night Midweek on business and really enjoyed my stay.

The room was very nice, newly decorated to a high standard with a very large comfortable bed.
The bathroom was large with a huge walk in shower with rain head.

I had dinner which was rustic pub food, well priced and good quality, the breakfast was also very good.

I will be using this place again for all future business trips to the Bristol area!
